Mopars At The Strip Vegas
« on: January 04, 2007 - 02:31:15 PM »
Hi

Im coming over from England for this event in April- Never been before - looks great- Is there an autojumble for used parts etc ?(need to know how many empty suitcases to bring!). Also I tried to preorder some stuff from Year One to Pick up at the show- they say they dont do this?- Is this true of other companies ?

Any other show tips or pointers most welcome!

Yea there is a swap meet...with no many good deals imo. Theres a good amount of stuff though. As far as year one, no they just have their trailer w/no parts. Sure a few other brands will bring stuff, i'm not sure they will bring your specific order however. Some hood companies might bring a hood if you order one to pick it up....big stuff.

If you're coming over just to shop for parts, thats the wrong show to attend IMO.  The Nationals in August or Mopars at Carlisle in July have a much better swap area than the show in Vegas.  I'm not surprised Year One wouldn't do that as they make alot of money with their shipping prices!   :swear:

I have went to Mopars at the strip in Vegas for the last 3 years and have always went home with a suit case full of parts. I agree that Mopar Nationals or Carlisle have more parts but I have got many good deals in Vegas but never bought any big items. Year One has not delivered parts to shows in awhile and does seem to make extra money off the shipping.

Thanks Guys

Im doing this show as it ties in well with the family vacation - Vegas and on to Florida. Its a good time of year for flight prices etc.

Luv to do Carlisle or Columbus one year tho!

Thanks again for the replies!

You will enjoy MATS, I will go again this year, nice speedway and watching the fighter jets going to Nellis is cool, great cars, lots of vendors and the family can keep busy doing other stuff, just bring the wallet cause Vegas is not cheap anymore, you WILL need to rent a car....   :money:

Thanks for the reply

We visited Vegas last year so we know what were in for!- Missed the Mopar show last year by a week (didnt know it was on)- thats why were back this year!  Wont be getting a hire car tho- We did the Canyon/Hoover Dam etc etc last year - found it pretty slow driving around the strip and no parking anywhere - found taxis etc easier to get about. I dont think the drag strips too far from downtown Vegas is it?- so plan to get a cab. Taking the wife n kids too so they can carry all my car parts back to the hotel

Euro,
Take my word, rent a car, (but stay on the right side of the road, LOL). the speedway is a little way north of Vegas and you will save time and money with a car vs a cab or shuttle. Cab or bus is fine or better going around the strip or to downtown or off strip places. Plan on going to the Cannery hotel Saturday night for concert and cars 7-10ish  pm, free with your wristband....Damn I wish my wife n kids would carry my stuff......Also You have to eat at In-n-Out burger, cheap and awsome burgers...double double animal style, I hit that anytime in Vegas or California.

I have rented a car at vegas the last 3 years just for that reason. It is expensive to get to the track and to the Cannery hotel. It cost 4 of us $80.00 US just to get to the track and back and my rental car was only $93.00 last year for a 4 day rental. This year I got a full size Dodge Charger car from cheaptickets.com for $128.00 for 4 days with unlimited miles. Hope this helps.

Hi

Appreciate the advice guys!- May well rethink the car situation- sounds like a good idea - Where is the Cannery - near the drags or the strip- or in Between? Burgers sound good - wheres that place located??

Cant wait for April now!!! :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:

The Canary is probably the closest hotel to the track.  I believe it sits at exit 48 on I-15 Speedway at Craig Rd.  Its pretty close  . . maybe a 10 minute drive with traffic moving!   :burnout:

Its OK as long as you don't let them play in the casino.   :nono:   I'm sure they probably have a pool or something the kids can do.

Euro,
I always go to the In-n-out on I-15 and Flamigo Blvd, south strip, cant miss it with the big neon sign and right off the exit, always busy, there are others but I don't know if they are easy to get to....The Cannery may be one of the closest motels to the speedway, and is a easy drive. . Kids should be ok, the show and cars are outside, so there is some room to mess around.
