This raises a question I've had for a while...
What is the shape of the Bumblebee Stripe across the trunk lid? From the factory drawing , I think it is wider at the edges of the trunk lid, and thinner at the middle (slightly angled in a V-shape when viewed from the rear of the car - Like the pictures of Allan's car, above).
However, most people have told me that the BB stripe is either straight across the trunk lid, or thicker in the middle and narrowing toward the edges (opposite of the drawing).
My interpretation of the engineering drawing: (

The drawing locates the front edge of the thin stripe (in inches) from some reference point toward the vehicle front. (You can see that the dimensions get larger as you move toward the rear of the car, ending in 134.00 at the back.)
If we look at the trunk lid in the engineering drawing, the front edge of the stripe is 128.44 inches at the right side, and 129.10 inches at the center. This suggests that the stripe narrows (129.10 - 128.44 = 0.66 inch) toward the center. (This seems to be how Allan painted his, and how the stencil kit apparently goes). In the sketch below, I have tried to explain how I'm reading the drawing...Sorry my artistic skills are
limited.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Barry: Do you happen to have any pictures of that original green car with the yellow bumblebee stripe (that 6pak posted earlier in this thread), showing the entire trunk lid?
I'm getting my BB taped/painted in the next day or two, so I appreciate your feedback. I'm not looking to be correct to a thousandth of an inch or anything, but I want to make sure the stripe is the correct shape. Thank you!
