Got it done!
« on: January 06, 2007 - 06:06:29 PM »
I took the Beast out today, mainly to run up to the gas station for some fuel.  I ran into a few folks, some I knew, and some new folks.  We stood around and talked cars for a few minutes and then I headed back to the house.  Some dude in a Fox body Ferd 'Stang pulled alongside.  It was a grey primer car with at least one turbo charger on it. ( I could hear it whining when he was under throttle.)  Not sure about NOS, maybe it had it, maybe not.  He had a buddy with him and a girl in the backseat.  They started talking loud, (so that I could hear them) about how my car was loud, but prolly all muffler and no-go.  His buddy said "yeah, he's just another Flowmaster Faggot".  That kinda hit me wrong and I said "this old car has eaten meaner things than your car for breakfast".  They mockingly laughed-----until the light changed...(we were the first two cars at the light).  I started out at about 3/4 throttle and he was slowly fading back, then at about 5000 rippums I hit full throttle and stayed in it till about 1/2 way through second.  By then, he was 10 lenths back and fading pretty fast.  He didn't even bother with the flyby.  They stayed behind me for 3-4 miles until I turned off of that road towards my house.  It sure feels good when "Oldschool" power, ALL MOTOR car completely shames a later model ride with mods.........    :cooldancing:

I would have taken one look at your back tires and knew you meant business.

Frankly, I'm kinda surprised you won.  Not because your car is slow, but because of how fast a fox body (or anything else rear wheel drive) can be with a turbo.  It's not at all unreasonable to build a streetable single turbo v8 for 800 hp at the wheels.

In any case, none of that really matters-you wore his ass out.  I bet he'll talk a little quieter next time.

I am hip to the power that can be made in those cars.  My 25 y/o son has one making mucho HP.  I know it takes the correct turbo, boost pressure, gas quality, intake, cams, computer tuning, exhaust, gearing, tranny, traction, cubic inches,  etc....................   I say all of that to say this:  I didn't speak to the folks in the car about their combo, nor did I get to see what they had.  Coulda been a turbo V-6 for all I know.  I am positive it was turbo charged because I could hear the high pitched whistling sound that a turbo makes when it is spooling up under a load. And I assumed it was a V8 because of the dual exhaust pipes and the exhaust note.  Could have been a real bad a$$ with pump gas and the boost dialed down.   I'll never know, but it was fun while it lasted........     :burnout:    :cooldancing:

Great story and glad you got to share it with us. I try not to get to aggressive with either my Challenger or Cuda as when I was younger I had way to many issues with the law over tickets I got with my cars. One cop even took the time to measure the rubber marks I left so they could use it in a court of law against me.

Wow, some people just don't know when to avoid defeat...Glad you showed them the taillights of The Beast.  Most Mustangs I've seen (even supercharged ones) aren't really all that fast out on the streets.  I know you can get them into the 10's and even the 9's if you know what you're doing, but not every Mustang  owner out on the roads has the $$ or knowledge to get their cars into that trap speed. :grinno:

Great story OS!  I know first hand....there's not much on the street that can take the beast!  At least they were in American muscle and not some fart-can ricer. :roflsmiley:

Such speak about a car with those rear tires?!? :eek2:
