I know you hate mustangs but there aren't any old school muscle cars tested by Clarkson.



Anyway it sounds very good :bigsmile:

Clarkson has little good to say about any American made cars. But when his mate bought a Charger he told him he had bought the wrong car and should have bought a Challenger instead. :thumbsup:

A female friend of mine might have pursuaded him about Challengers. She met him in a hotel bar once and bent his ear for an hour about Challengers. :grinyes:

He was dogging out the way the car handles.  After driving Ferrari's, and a host of other modern supercars, what did he expect from a nearly 40 year old american musclecar?  The Mustang was a pony car for the masses and not a low production run of superexpensive pseudo-racer.  Sheeesh,  ---  he needs to come down off of his high horse and rate the car for what it was/is.  A big engine pony car for american highways in the '60's.........    :cooldancing:

All the journalists here say the same thing about the new Mustang. Ford would have you think they spent millions on the handling but in real life (and on a circuit) it is a real handfull. Saw one on TV being driven by a racing driver and although he liked the power it was all over the track.

I watched the whole clip and he sounded right on target with the evaluation of the car he was driving. Who in their right mind would want to rely on 4 drums, probably small ones, to stop a 3000lb? 420 HP sled. I definately would give the same banter, as I believe the car was built to go fast, preferably in a straight line. In the end he says it is a brilliant car. The owner should of thought how he was going to stop before he dcided he wanted to go faster than what the drums allow.

Jeremy's "OK"....I use to really dislike him a lot before he said he liked Challengers & Vanishing Point. lol
I still think he's a bit of an up tight plonker as he bins anything non-British, especially the yanks.

If you want a real drivers opinion, look no further than Tiff Needell (ex Top Gear now 5th Gear journalist). He comes up with better reviews than Clarkson in his sleep. 3/4's of Top Gear is BS tests like racing a plane, dropping a 4x4 on it's roof, cars vs other transport.....total rubbish IMO.....give us real tests, with real drivers, not a has been whinging old pom. (No offense to English, but even you'd agree Jeremy is the stereo type "whinging Pom") lol.

You are wrong there mate. He trashes British stuff too. In fact Vauxhall named him as one of their biggest problems before they went bust putting thousands of people out of work.

He loves his exotic European cars (except anything German). The only British cars he likes are low production hand build speedsters, Jaguars and the more impressive Aston Martins (don't blame him) and if his American made Ford GT40 had actually worked then he would probably still own that.

Cool, thanks Dave. I knew he owns(ed)? the worlds fastest manufacture automatic car, the Mercedes "something" lol. I'm a Mercedes man if I had to choose between them and BMW. BMW just seem too cheap for that market. Though, they to have some nice rides. Has anyone figured out or have they said who the "Stig" is? I wouldn't be surprised if indeed it was Tif.  :biggrin:

Cool old Mustang. I'd have those brakes on eBay and replaced with discs ASAP.
