I love the red body, black hood on my Challenger, but if I could have ordered one new, it would have been Sublime with a black T/A hood.

Problem is 72-4 Challengers don't look the same in any given color as other years or models.

:iagree:The body-color headlight panel adds a whole twist to it and I don't think the headlight panel looks right painted black, either.  I think the darker colors work better on '72-'74 and paint the grille black, too.

I think on a Challenger, Black with black stripes, hood blackout & black vinyl top.  Dog dish hub caps or Cragar S/S mags.

Depends on what year the car is, and how special it is...but...

Sublime (or other High Impact Color of your choice)
Blackout on hood if you have an R/T Style Bulge
I will keep the hood vents black on ours
Strobes if you have a 72-74(put vents on if you did not have them) (70-71 side stripe)
Header panel in body color,
tail panel in black (light buckets in black or silver your choice)
Rear valance with cutouts
flip-top fuel lid
we will keep the black Vinyl top (Cuda style on the challenger)
we have opted to not use the BB Strip (if it had been a 70 we would have 71 probably would have)

Not that we have put much thougt into it or anything...

I think maybe one problem with the 72-4 is the body color on the header panel, if you noticed Goody's dad's was painted a dark argent & it seemed to soften the appearance of the front.

:iagree:  The header panel on the '72-'74 Challengers is pushed forward as compared to a '70, so it has a sort of "in your face, look at me" deal going.  It sort of reminds me of what they did with the Charger 500 vs a regular '69 Charger to a small extent, IMO.  Also the head light bezels stick out, as opposed to a '70 where they look more flush to the grill.

If you look at this pic that Hopalong posted in another post, the headlight bezels look more flush to the header and the trim on the grill is removed, giving the front end a flatter, less noticeable look.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

The fact that it is Dark also helps...Hide the header pannel as well
plus a non-stock grill throws it a little...I would love to know what modifications were made in the front end..

Bullitt99: I like crome and the black seems to accentuate the crome better in my opinion

Bullitt99: I am not a body man therefore I must ask why the advice on the panels with black.  Additionally, what should I look for before the painting begans?
