Says his Dad purchased the car new in Tucson and the miles are original.

If the car could be bought it would be sitting in my garage right now. I offered the guy a RIDICULOUS amount of cash and he just stuck his lip out and shook his head and said he really didn't need the money!!

That's a nice find!

One idea you could try (that I heard on another board recently), is to offer to swap the owner a fairly new car straight across for that one. While some folks think "bah" to money, they might think differently if they knew they could be driving that new(ish) car you just drove up in, by the next day.
Unless it's a Hynudai.

I love 70 bee's,I got to drive this v-code 4spd dana on my wedding day.

The guy also has a 79ish Cordoba for 200 bucks if anyone is interested. I don't get it , he said the 'Doba was his Dad's car too. Why not restore the 'Doba and sell me the Bee for 200 bucks?!?? AAARRRGGHHH!!

Although the dry Southern AZ climate is very kind to sheetmetal, it pretty much bakes everything else. The guy said the car has been sitting outside for a number of years. I have seen interiors out here that look like they have literally caught on fire!! The dry air just soaks the moisture out of everything. Better than an Iowa rustbucket , IMO.

Thanks for the update.  I was out there in Phoenix about this time last year for a half-marathon. In the 10-15% humidity, the water gets sucked out of you without you even knowing it. It was crazy to be running a race, not sweating much, but dying of thirst. Maybe I should have talked to you sooner?
