What an odd story. It seems the 11 year old who is now 15 had been with this man for over 4 years. The neighbors thought the abductor was his dad and had seen them together and even pitching a tent in their apartment courtyard/complex. He didn't seem to want to escape. I hope they can get this all figured out. He's probably been brain washed and will need counseling for the rest of his life!! Thank the good Lord they are safe and alive!!

:clapping: Incredibly great news to hear!I think the "no cruel or unusual punishment" claus should not apply to scum that do those types of crimes as even the prison system is too good for them.

Yeah, I thought it was strange that the boy didn't escape or try to calll his parents or the police.  On the news a psychologist called it the "Stockholme syndrome", when the captured person forms a strong bond with the capturer.  The said Patty Hearst was an example of this.  She actually fell in love with one of her captors.

I think they should take all child sex offenders and make them live in one designated area, away from everyone else, just like they did with Lepers long ago. Oh, wait. The Liberals  and ACLU would stream that that would violate their rights. Doesn't matter about the rights of the victems, or of any of us!

I have fought with myself on commenting on this part of the thread, but I just want to start out by saying that I dont want to be confrontational with anyone nor am I implying in any way shape or form that I am defending any child molestor, because I am not. I am just going to tell a story that happened quite a few years ago to someone that my wife and I knew.

A man in his late 50's was accused by a 14 year old girl of child molestation.

First of all, the cops got the girls story, then went down and got the story from the accused.

The man and his wife denied the allegations and showed that they were out of the country and had reciepts showing that during the time that they were accused that they were in Canada. Gas reciepts, food reciepts, etc....

The cops then went back to the 14 year old girl and told her that she had to change her story, as the man and his wife were in Canada during the time she had originally stated. She changed her story and the cops took down the info and he got accused in a court of law and by people sitting on the jury, and was found guilty of child molestation.

He is now on the Sex offenders list as a child molestor. I guess that my bottom line on this is; not all accused are guilty.
Food for thought!

(ps. the little victim in this case, had accused others of similar crimes since that time....) Peace out!

Just bringing in an update on this story:
Mitchell Hults is the boy that seen the PU truck that grabbed Ben Ownby and gave the very good decription that lead to the police finding both of the boys. He has a very rough S-10 PU truck to drive. Well a few local businesses were going to fix up his truck for him ( he had plywood across the driver side window with a hole cut in it to see) One business was going to repaint it, one was going to replace the glass, another was going to do repairs to the engine and I was going to put all new exhaust on it (since I am doing exhaust now too) all free of charge from everyone! Well it turns out that Chrysler is giving him a brand new 2007 Dodge Ram! :2thumbs:

That's awesome!  It's great that the community is ralying around not only the 2 boys that were found, but also the boy who played a key part in helping the police find them!

Well deserved for someone who was willing to step up to the plate and help out the situation!  (Just hope he can afford the insurance on the new truck!)

And capital gains tax.  I hope Chrysler or somebody can pick that up for him.  I would hate to see him lose the truck he deserves over taxes.

Capital Gains. Off topic, but, is that why you see alot of the Overhaulin' vehicles getting sold. I thought they were just trying to cash in on a "T.V. car".

Tax is assesed on the value of the Overhaulin' cars.  That may contribute to the sale of them.  It is around $5-$10 K according to Goody.  His Dad's car was done by Overhaulin.

5-10K for a resto, even if it is done in a week, is still a killer price to pay. I always think they don't deserve to be Overhauled if it doesn't mean enough to them to keep the car.

Hopefully good people will help that boy on the taxes. Maybe set up donation jars around town. Just a thought.

I had almost for got about this thread.  I am glad everything turned out well.  Glad to hear about the gift to Mitch, maybe that will get more people involved, who might other wise not be, in future cases.
