Appearently, you guys used to live in the land of the free, but now you reside in the land of the whining and the lawsuithappy (As in triggerhappy). What happened?

Myself, i'm one of the noisier ones in my neighbourhood, but i try to avoid driving the Chally late in the evening.
See, i've got no mufflers, 'cept for something that looks suspiciously like a couple of Cherry Bomb straight-thru Glasspacks...
TTi, and Flowmaster/Cherry Bomb products are highly likely to be purchased within the next 6 months.
The neighbours have been very patient with me so far, but i should'nt and won't push it.

The car is registered, tagged, insured, and otherwise legal.  If it was all put together, I could take it out for a spin anytime.  When I started working on it, I did a little work in the driveway and found that the problems were pretty big.  So I went and got the tent/car shelter, and did the work in there out of consideration.  I didn't want anyone complaining that there was dust around, or that the disassembled car didn't look pretty in their tulip and rose version of reality.

As for the noise, I only fired it up on New Year's Eve, and at that, it was 7pm.  I tuned the carb the next saturday at 2pm.  I'm not rude about it at all.   I can understand a single noise complaint.  But there are at least 3 Harley Davidsons on the street.

Oh well, Revelry is at 6 am, and I have a Mopar Bugle.

I sounds like the new people that moved in 3 years ago to me. I had no problems with the last one as he wanted to go for rides. This one calls the police just about every time we start the cars. I have a very good friend that is a Sargent in the Sherriffs dept and he told me there was nothihg they can do if I do burnouts in my driveway. (Privet Property) So now every time I come home I will do a smokey power brake burnout in the driveway. When they are standing outside I get the nastiest looks and I just smile at them.

I had a similar situation last summer. Although i was not remotely close to the point of tuning on my Challenger, the car was in my backyard, on a cement pad resting on jack stands under a blue garage/tarp causing no issues with my neighbors - for ten years!! :faint: I went to City Hall to get a copy of the law i was in violation of which also listed what needed to be done to satisfy said law and then met the minimum requirement(s).
In my case no neighbor had even thought about complaining; it was election time and my little district was one of three that happened to be picked by the city for compliance. Whatever happened to good ol' commom sense??

Actually in the subdivision I'm in right now (trying to move) you aren't allowed to work on your car period . . not even in your closed garage.  Glad they really don't inforce that as I know a few people building cars in our 300 home sub.  I guess what they don't know, won't hurt them.  They do have too many stupid rules in alot of the site-condo subdivisions that have an association in this area.  I assume it's probably like that elsewhere too..

Yes it is really getting hard remembering that we live in America-Land of the FREE.
I live in Summerville SC. They are not to strict on their cars here-there is NO state inspection and I have seen cars running around with no hoods on them without any problems. BUT I have a 70 to 80 foot pine tree in my front yard about 8 feet away from my master bedroom and it is leaning about 30 degrees towards the house. I decided to have it removed with the storms and hurricanes I don't feel like getting crushed to death by a tree. Guess what --the tree is protected by city ordanince. They put the trees life in front of two tax paying human beings. I can cut it down but will be fined in excess of $ 1,100.00 plus court cost. I talked to a atty. wondering how they can put the well being of my family in danger for a friggin tree. He said if is not diseased I don't have a chance in court so save my money.

Go talk to a tree expert. If he will testify that the tree is a danger to you and your family, take them to court for endangerment and negligence. You can sometimes sue for not only what happens, but also what may happen. Or, file a formal complaint with them, and go on record as saying that you tried to prevent the situation, and that if the tree causes you any harm, you will hold them personally responsible and sue them for $10 million dollars. They may cave in, especially if you have testimony from an expert.

we've been working on my cuda for a while now.  it currently sits in the garage.  my dad has his own 69 camaro project, the shell of which used to sit in the driveway.  i say it used to sit in the driveway, at least until our new neighbors moved into a house near ours and we suddenly got a complaint about the body of the camaro in the driveway.  all chevy comments aside, it couldn't really have been more obvious who filed the complaint.  i can understand the necessity of being considerate of others, but it's getting a little extreme what we can and cannot do on our own property.  oh, well.  this too shall pass.

Well, if they're going to complain, I'm going to cause reason for complaint.  So it's after 6:30 pm here.  Time for air tools  :stirpot: :stirpot:
I think the wheels look a little flat spotted, so I better rotate them.  Air gun, check.  Air compressor, check, Megadeth tape for boombox, check.  And away we go................. :working:

Just wait for one of them to have a late night (noise polluting) party or need work done on their own cars.

Well it may not be the best idea, but you need to tell us what happens.

Wow, that sucks!  At times it's rather nice knowing I live in a small town where nobody complains about the business I do in the garage/driveway.

Well, I'm shocked.  No one called the cops about the air tools / tire rotation (6:30 to 8).  I even fired up the motor (oh so sweet), and let it warm up at 8:30pm.  I expected  :villagers: to be knocking on my door.  Then again, no one has the stones to actually say something to me.  Oh well, guess we'll see what happens when I repeat it today.
