Hey all,

I'm in Australia and it's almost time for me to start ordering replacement body panels for my 'Cuda. What is the best way to go about this? Who do you all recommend I order the parts through?

In the past i've found some companies charge up to 3 times the freight of others. Jims Auto for example, i've found to charge through the nose!

What are the chances of my panels being bent/damaged??

If anyone has any experiences they could share I would be most grateful.

Definitely stay well clear of Jim's Auto parts - worst place EVER. I ordered some RH & LH 1/4 panels from Year One about 2 months ago, BO. They are now in stock. The shipping was very expensive, the box was roughly 3 metres though, $600 USD (Express shipping).  :eek7: But their service is second to none and I don't mind pay a little extra to get parts and know I'll get what I want, fast. Sometimes it's better to pay more than to pay less and get ripped.

STAY AWAY FROM JIMS THEY JUST RIP YOU BLIND ON SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IT SEEMS US POOR AUSSIES COP IT WHEN WE ORDER STUFF THEY JUST GET YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER, THINK OF A SHIPPING COST , THEN TRIPLE IT AND ADD 10% FOR GOOD MEASURE!! THE BLOODY FREIGHT COSTS ARE GENERALLY MORE THAN THE PARTS COST, NOT TO MENTION THE CONVERSION RATE OF THE DOLLAR . IM ABOUT TO ORDER 1/4S AND SOME OTHER PANELS SOON FOR MY T/A  WE ARE GONNA SHIP OUR OWN CONTAINER, THATS THE ONLY WAY IT MAKES SENSE TO SHIP THE BIGGER STUFF, OUR CONTAINER WILL BE SHIPPED OUT OF SAVANNA,THERE ARE THREE GUYS TO SHAREIT SO THE COST IS REASONABLE. :money: :money: :money:

there is elko-dodge city conversions in vic, they may have panels in stock.probably have to pay the middle man but at least you can witness the part before buying it and if they have to order it you only pay a deposit so if its damaged in transport you refuse the part.
ps-new to this site,i'll get around to an intro one day.
hey ozrt4406 youve got a t/a? .more info mate.i know of 2 t/a's here.what colour is it
i want it all-i want it yesterday-and i want it for nothing

Hey js23, how would the price of parts from Pentastar compare to ordering from say Year One(inc shipping of course)?

I'm up in Brisbane so there will still be some shipping involved. Atleast if I buy locally it should be easier for me to get some action/replacement if a panel arrives damaged.

In Queensland there are a few importers of cars, try contacting them. I know of a few people in the past who used car importers to bring parts in with the cars, most are reasonable people and will give you a fair price. I personally don't know of anybody in Queensland unfortunatly but it is a suggestion.  :cooldancing:
I am about to bring a Challenger back to Australia but it is already nearly full, I am using an importer who comes recommended, I used to import cars about 12 years ago but for one off and a couple of parts, paying someone else is good business.
  I'm in Victoria anyway.

  Good Luck :bananasmi

I'm east of Melbourne in the Yarra Valley, Launching Place. Yes I agree Elko are a bit on the steep side, like AU$1000 dearer for bringing in a car than several others I spoke with. :money:
They are very helpful but......... :bricks1:
That amount will purchase a few other items, I have checked out several others and the one I'm going with I have checked how they do it.

1970 Challenger 4bbl 318,  904,  Banana with stripes, R/T hood, Rally wheels, extractors & dual exhaust with correct tips. New Legandary interior, slapstick floor with consul. The vehicle is fairly straight and won't require much to roadworthy so I can reg. I saw it on my trip last year, I am going back in March to load it and organise its transportation to Longbeach from Kansas. I am bringing back a 360 and a 4spd + parts needed and a few more bits. :burnout:
I intend to use as it should be used, not hide it away, and when the time comes fit rebuilt & improved 360 and 4spd. It will not be put to shame. :woohoo:

I brought all my parts from elko .They were dear, but they had them in stock, eg: pair full quarters, trunk floor, inner fenders ,pair front floor pans, inner quarters.
Then I started working for PPR and found out i could have saved about $1000. :swear:
