Carl, mine shifter handle is like the first photo with the two mounting holes. My car is a 73 so that adds up according to the descriptions you posted.  Since my tranny is about 5 yrs old now it is the older model Tremec which I think is a 3550 or the equivalant of the TKO-500.  I used the .68 od as I wanted to cruise on the hwy at 65mph at about 1700-1800 rpm but I agree with your other posts with Robb in that the .82 would make a nicer drop in RPM's for performance driving.

So, there is a bolt on style shifter and a push in style shifter, what did you use?
I'm guessing you used and I need the blue one, bolt on style?

my install required the 2 hole shifter.   TKO 600.

Before I buy, I will be buying a Brewers repro or NOS pistol grip. I will be also buying a Harms 5-Speed H Pattern top lens for this. Question: How do I remove the top lens and put the harms one in? I'm guessing I unscrew the screws from the handle and that will "drop" the top lens chrome piece out?? Surely they're not a one piece up top?

Thanks, once I know this I can order!!  :bananasmi

I don't know about the brands of shifters you listed, but the pistolgrip manual shifter is one piece at top.  The screws hold the grips on, the top bezel is held on by the top of the shifter being hammered down to hold it in place.  To get the lens out, usually you have to break it.  Gunslinger makes fine repro shifters with correct Hurst on them, I think they make the shifters for Hurst these days.  I bought a 4 speed repro pistolgrip from them and it's fine, I like it.  You could probably special order one with 5 speed lens already on it, they sell 5 speed lenses too.  gunslinger727@earthlink.com I think is the email, if that's not correct, I can look up the info to hook you up if interested.  The quality and price are very good.

Thanks but I have seen the 727 gunslingers and wasn't too impressed with the quailty. No offence, so please don't take it as so. That's a bugger about how you remove them, I was dreading that. :crying: So, I wonder how Mopar73340 has his then as he has a repro or original Hurst shifter in his Keisler, unless he just left it with the 4-Speed lens on it? I'm positive there is some way of having an original Hurst shifter with modern 5-Speed H pattern lens.  :walkaway:

Another question: What pedal bezels do I need to buy Mopar73340? They don't say if the pedals are for 70, 71?
Do they have one pedal assembly for all year 'Cudas or are they factory correct and change through each year? I was just about to purchase some manual pedal bezels but got stuck as I was unsure if I should order my cars year, 73 (which is what they quoted me on) or ? ? ?  :dunno:

Sorry about all the questions guys, I just like to make sure I get everything correct and know what to order.
Nothing worse than throwing away your money because of lack of research.

I think that the lens cover and lower are held in place with small roll pins.   :dunno:

Carl, You are right on as I just put the original hurst shifter on the Keisler. I have been debating on weather to even change the bezel as I don't really care if it has a 5-spd "H" or the 4 spd one. Most of the time it's facing the dash so you can't easily see it anyway. Are the petal bezels or pads what you are looking for?  If it's the pads the 70-72 had a triangular shape to them and then the 73-74's were rectangular. The only place I was able to find the rectangular ones were from Keisler as they have been discontinued other places. Keislers web site shows both styles, so if you go with the 73's make sure they send you the pads. If they are the 70-72 style I have a set I don't need.

Thanks Mopar73340 (what is your first name?) takes skill to type your user name. lol
I just got off the phone from Keisler and asked for the "triangular" shaped pedals, 70 style.
Gene comfirmed that indeed they do only sell the 70-71? style pedals pads.

Until now, I didn't think there was any difference.  :clueless:  So, I've got the bezels sussed.
I also found out how to change the shift pattern lens so I will buy a Hurst shifter & 5-Speed lens pattern.

In case you were interested I found this via a search on here: The lens is glued into the top/bezel and the bezel is penned onto the shifter below the lens. Drill a small hole into the old lens and run a drywall screw or similar into the lens to pull the old lens out. This way you will not damage the bezel. Glue or "snap" the new one in place/

Looks like I'm all sorted. I'll probably be asking some more meticulous question some time in the near future.  :grinyes:
By the way Mopar73340, who did you buy your Hurst pistol grip from? Year One and brewers seem to sell nice ones and both sound like the same handles. Just curious as to where you got yours, that is all.

Carl, My Hurst shifter is the original one from my car as my car was originally a 4-spd. I just removed the handle and it bolted right to the Keisler. I guess if I was going to buy one I would go with which ever company whom you have had good service from.  I know yr one is usually higher but on the rare occasion I've had to return something it's been no problem. If I can help again just let me know.    Jim

Thanks Jim, nope, you've been more than enough help mate. Hey, I noticed too, while I was looking at your pedals (now I know the difference) that you have exactly the same CD head unit as me too.

EDIT - Actually, I think mine is either the next model up, or the one down, close enough!
I like the unit, I wanted something real easy to control, basically and simple looking.

  Yeah thats it. Mine is the basic unit as I just wanted to "fill the hole" as I usually just listen to the engine. I just wish it would have come in black so it matched the dash better.  Oh by the way, If I had a choice I would have used the triangular pedals also.

Thanks Jim, you just re-confirmed that I made the correct decision on the pedals.
Yeah, black would have been nice. Thanks once again Jim, you've been a good help as have the others.
