392 crate hemi

I have been seeing the 392 hemi out now, looks pretty stout at 525+hp! not to shabby. The thing is the price.. $16,000 for this thing! Ive seen it between $15,800-17,000+. When a 5.7 can be had on ebay for under 5k there is now way you can't build one of these for a whole lot cheaper.

Ive seen the XV guys around here, what can you all build this motor for? how bout the 426? if the 392 can do 525hp the 426 should be good for 550+ right?

the price of the new 392 should drop as it becomes a production line piece
the 426 has always been expensive due to low production & the amount of unique pieces required , here the 426 crate is priced over 16,000 & the 528 at over 28,000 to buy

These engines i am speaking of are the "new" hemis. The 528 is a completly different engine.

There's been some discussion going on over at www.thehemi.com in the 5.7-6.1 forum about building 426 engines based on the 6.1 block. Sme of the more knowledgeable people there seem to think the block will have a pretty short life!!!

Off XVs website... base 5.7L 485hp crate enigne, which includes a stand alone engin management computer and harnesses is $14600. The 6.1 starts at $18200. John can and will build anything you want. But he gets paid for it all. I would rather have one of thier setups than anything Mopar had its hands and bean counters in tho.
