Anybody sell smooth valve covers and air cleaner?
« on: January 22, 2007 - 05:47:50 PM »
Looking for a smooth top valve cover-prefer aluminum but steel OK and matching air cleaner lid.Thinking of painting them and maybe lettering 340 in a newer style Protouring type look.Anybody know if there`s anything available?

Smooth? Like a sheetmetal look? Mancini Racing has aluminum ones that are nice, PN# MRE-D3351. An air cleaner I think would look good with those is the K&N 14" X-Stream air cleaner lid and a corresponding filter and base.

Ok,that`s more like it but they are for big block only-mines a small block.  :walkaway:
Summit has a whole bunch for shevvy and ferds but only lists the Mopar ribbed ones for Mopar in aluminum. They do have some cheapo chrome steel ones I suppose I could strip and paint.

I'm after the same thing for my 340. I was going to get them engraved and maybe painted.

Has anyone got any close up, good quality photos of those Mancini ones?

For my big block, I just bought the Indy valve covers that did not have their logo on them and ran a fly cutter across the top of them on the milling machine.  Nice smooth top, with a cool looking machined finish.....that's easily polished.  Indy may offer something similar for the small blocks.  Just a thought.....

I went to the local dodge dealer and ordered some black wrinkle finish cast aluminum ones for 100 bucks even.  Not smooth but i think it will look sharp with a wrinkle black dual snorkel air cleaner. :2cents: and no leaks!

That's a good choice.  I used to have a set of the polished aluminum covers. After one season of driving, they became a REAL pain to keep clean. I gave up on them.  :grinyes:
