High School?  You mean like 2 years ago?   :lol2:

Nobody raced.  Nobody cared.  Graduated with a class of 200 hicks and drama queens.  Most were both.   :icon16:

If we all went back today?  Got a feeling I'd have the fastest   :burnout:

Not my car. A quart of oil every 500 miles. I had to put high octane in it, or it would ping it's butt off. You know what? I can't remember ever doing a burn out in it either.

Like you said for some of us we have to think back a few years-1975. There was a guy with a 1969 GTO-455-tubbed with ladder bars ect. that was the car to beat. At those late night excursions just outside of town not much would keep up with him.  My friend had a 1970 440-6 Superbee  that we tried but could never get any traction. That car would do a wicked burnout and smoke the tires forever. If it ever did hook up he probably would of broke somethin.  Ahhh the memories.

Man that was pretty long ago, 1973. I had a brand new (paid $3,413.00) '71 340 4spd Duster Black on Black. I changed the carb, dist, gears, intake, and headers of course. I went very low 13's. If I remember their was about 15 to 20 of us in high school with muscle cars back then. The fastest was my friends 427 '65 GTO yeah it had a chevy in it and it was fast. 2nd I say my friends 428 Mustang and a '71 Z-28 Camaro. I was top 10 somewhere... The good old days, lots of different cars. Even a kid with a V-8 VW Beetle..

There was a Bad A$$ 69 Road Runner, with a 440, 6-pack, auto trans and 4:56 posi, that couldn’t be touched (this was in the late 70s).  People would come from all over the place to race him and he never lost.  During our senior year, he was showing off to the lunch crowd.  He eased over the speed bump, power braked it a little and then stood on the load peddle.  The throttle stuck wide open and he ran right into the side of the AG building…bummer.  He never did fix the damage to it, and sold it off in pieces.

Ahhh, those glorious high school days.

Well at our place we were up against some real competition.  The fastest was a Merc. Cougar Eliminator.  Orange. The reason it was fast...the owner was one of the Wood Brothers sons.  You know....#21 Nascar racing.  Today he is one of the very active owners of the team and his son drives in the truck series and will I think drive some with the big guys this year.  Racing was and still is in their blood.

I had my Challenger in high school, but it was slow then (stock 318).    I do know there was a Chevelle and a few mustang 5.0s, but who was the fastest, I have no clue.  I got interested in speed after I got out of high school.

Hard to say between the rich kid whose dad bought him a Yenko Camaro,  Bear, with his 55 Chevy with a 396,  or maybe the 63 Vette with the 426 Elephant in it, yeah that's the one.

What great days to remember. When I was a junior I had a 70 Chevelle SS with a LS5 454. It was really a blast to drive until I rolled it trying to miss a tractor on a gravel road. The front tire took the ditch and over she went. A week later I had a 70 GTO Judge. The quickest car was a friends who had a 71 Firebird with a built 455 and a minitub. I can remember going out on Saturday night to a blacktop north of town and having 30 or 40 cars show up for racing all night. The best race was his firebird vs a vega with a 454 and a massive tub. His firebird lost by just a fender. The vega was in a couple of magazines like Hot Rod later that summer.

I graduated in 1977,, our school lot had some serious iron in it.. mine included. I had a 68 charger r/t. 440  with a vertigate, tunnel ram with two carter 600s.  Other cars at school were "Moose" Petit's 69 R.R. 440 4spd.,, Ben Sharkey's 67 camaro 350 4spd--ran 11.80s driven to the track and bolt on some slicks. Ed walkuski's 71 charger r/t, Dave Reall's 70 Duster 340 4 spd.  Marc Rebick's 66 Mustang Gt 289 4spd... geez the list can go on..
All these cars were fairly mean, and good looking.  There are at least 10 others that I havent mentioned.. our school lot was just loaded.. the place was smokey burnout heaven

I had my 68 roadrunner whick was fairly quick, but somehow alway lost to my friends 67 charger, but it was always fun on the strip of road that everyone raced on, measured out at a little under a quarter mile with enough room to slowdow before the curve :burnout:
