Heater Core replacement help needed...
« on: September 14, 2003 - 07:36:58 PM »
Can someone that has done it on a 70 cuda tell me the steps in replacing the heater core.  Mine is leaking and I thought I would ask for some advice before I take it on.
Thanks,
Blueglow

I'm not sure about a Cuda, but on a Challenger there are 4 screws on the front of the heater/blower box under the passenger side dash. Just remove the 4 screws and about 6 clips that hold the 2 halves together. Take the front half off and the heater core will slide right out after detaching the heater hoses.
Just be careful removing the metal clips, the fiberglass box can be real brittle. I used a small screwdriver to pry them off.

The current issue of Mopar Muscle has an article about cleaning up and replacing the heater assembly/core, if 383magnum's response didn't get you over the hump, you might want to check out the article for some pictures and methods.
