Can someone verify a dipstick measurement?

I have been fighting transmission leaks FOREVER, so I'm constantly checking the level.  I've also had a question about whether the dipstick length is correct.

Can someone verify on their car, small block with 727, what the dipstick length is?  I get approximately 18.25" from flush against cap to tip.

Katfish, Sounds right as mine is 18 5/16" from the cap to the tip.

Appreciate the help!  One less thing to worry about.

On a side note, I think I'm going to drill a small hole in tip.  Like the newer cars have, makes it much easier to see level.
