Model Car Building
« on: January 27, 2007 - 04:51:51 PM »
So I have been working on and off on a 1969 Super Bee for about 8-9 years now, and now that Im out here in AZ for training and I have a crap load of time on my hands in the evening I plan on finishing it.  Its going to be black on black.  I dont know if the super bees ever came with black exterior with black stripes?  Also I got some killer Mag 500's I did or I can do a set of Cop Car steel Wheels with caps Im torn on which set of rims to use, please help me decide?  Also If I need to I can fill in the slots on the Cop car rims and just make them steel rims?  What should I do.  I have put alot of time into this car over the years and I do not concider my self a novice at building these cars and I want this thing to be perfect!!!  After I finish this one Im going to work on a 70 RR white ext with red int with Rallys so give me some feed back!!!  By the way anyone near Seirra Vista AZ???

I haven' done models (cars that is  :roflsmiley:) since I was a kid, but personal preference would be mag. 500's on the bee and plain ole steelies on the runner when you get to that one. Take care Don, lots of time out in desert country huh? At least ya could be looking out for rattlers and scropions.

I have a 70 RR model, EV2 outside, burnt orange inside.  It looks killer.  Air grabber hood with black stripes down it.  I put the steelies on that.  For the bee I would totally go 500's.  I love models!   :swaying:

Don

Cool!  I love models cars too!

Are the black stripes going to be FLAT black?  Is the Bee a separate decal?  Are the stripes a decal or going to be painted on?  Steelies give it the stealth, mean look but the magnums look classier.
Do you have a "Six Pack" hood scoop?

Here's a pic with  Magnum 500s and white strip, twin scoops.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Its going to be Black with Black Stripe with Mag 500 rims, I have put way to much time into the detail on the rims to switch, right now the body is going through paint prep, I have primed it and sanded it to smooth out any imperfections and then cleaned the surface with some thinner.  Now all I got to do is catch some time between classes to get the first few coats of paint on.  The stripes are going to be the decals that come with the Kit.  They will then be clear coated over as I go into the finishing touches on the body.  I thank all the members who have offered their opinions on this matter as I have been working on this car for many years on and off I want it to be perfect, a show stopper if you will.  I will try to get a digital cam to show where Im at so you can see what all I have gone through the years on this one Model Car.  Thank you for your intrest in this topic.
