New guy here. Just bought a 70 Challenger

I just bought it off Ebay. Its a 70 and was a 318 automatic car. I am going to start in the rear of the car and work forward, I will be purchasing new full quarters for both sides. New trunk floor also. I am not sure what to do on the roof, someone cut a hole for a sunroof and I do not want it there. Any suggestions? I had a 70 Charger that I put a new trunk in, but I learned quite a few things from that car and plan to do this one differently. I also work in a body shop now and learned a lot of things I had no idea about back then. I plan to put in a 4 or possibly 5 speed, pretty sure I want to go with a 440, but may do a built 340. I would like to do the Magnum Force front suspension (K-member, rack+pinion, disc brakes, coil overs) also. I have been searching all over the site and there is a ton a great information. If anyone has a write up on the quarter or trunk replacement that would be awesome! I have not torn the car apart yet, I want to order the quarters and trunk first, I think thats the best idea.

Welcome... You have your work cut out for you, but it will be fun and this board is full of information (just ask). I am looking at a '71 Challenger to buy right now. It's a 318 Auto A/C car triple green. needs trunk and front floors and alot of other parts. I'm still negoitating the price. If you don't mind what kind of money did you get yours for. Does it have the original engine & trans?? ...Vin......

Thanks guys I know its a lot of work, I can't wait to dig in! I paid $1500 for the car, no motor or transmission but its got a vin and a pink slip. All the rust is in the rear of the car, I may need to do wheel wells and/or frame rails.

Any suggestions on the roof?

Where are u located? I have  a roof.. best I would think would be to reskin.. not sure though..

Looks like a 89 daytona sun roof went there before? Bout the same size. Or is that original? I am not up on that area of expertise. But I do have a daytona here, well actually 3 that we're putting hemis in for racing. We won't be useing the roofs if you think it will fit in the hole..... Lots of work for you there, but you sound like your ready to tackle the job.........

Looks fun. Id skin the roof. Also would do inner and out wheel houses by the looks of them and a one piece trunk floor while you have the full quaters cut off.

Hi and welcome to the board.
If you have access to a TIG welder you could patch it but reskining it is probably the way to go.All the rear parts you need are available. Good luck and keep the pictures coming.
