Van Halen with David Lee Roth 40 city tour.
« on: January 29, 2007 - 10:16:30 AM »
For all the Van Halen fans, not (Van Hagar). I heard over the weekend that Van Halen with David Lee Roth, and Eddie's 15 year old son on bass guitar will do a 40 city tour starting in May in NC.
I can't wait! :jumping:

Yep I heard that on the radio here in Detroit a couple weeks ago.  Wolfgang on the bass as Michael Anthony is still playing with Sammy at the Cabo Wabo as they are good friends too.  I'll go see it if they come.

WOWSA!!

I saw the "84" tour too.  :2thumbs: I was a bit more than 15 feet away though.  :smilielol:  I also saw them a few years later with Sammy. I honestly liked both versions of the band.

Sammy and David Lee Roth were definately two different front men for the band. I personally always enjoyed what Sammy brought to the stage over David.

The Sammy era with the band was definately good, but unless you seen the David Lee Roth era from 78-84 there is no comparision. Dave brought to the band this huge energy on stage, that with Eddie blew away bands that they were opening for. In 1981 Van Halen toured with the Rolling Stones, has to go down as one of the most incredible Rock tours in History.
Sammy was a great change for the band, but they went more pop at times then hard rock.

:iagree:  David Lee Roth just had this stage presence that knocked you dead.  He had a lot of charisma and combined with the rest of the group, they were a tough act to follow.  I liked the stuff they did with Sammy Hagar did but it didn't have the same "umph" in my opinion.

Sooooo....no Michael Anthony this time around?  :clueless:

Just think that David Lee Roth was simply a front man. Very creative individual and fantastic SELF promoter. Although, never considered him a musician.

I always liked David Lee Roth with Van Halen but really wonder how good it will be without Michael Anthony. I try to go see Sammy Haggar with Micheal Anthony when ever they come as they still rock. David Lee Roth with Van Halen may end up being a show to see as this may never happen again.

I love all of VH, but you have to wonder, they did a reunion tour 2 or 3 years ago with Sammy, now one with Dave, could the next one be with Gary Cherone ? They could play all the music off of Vanhalen III (NOT)!!!!!!! :roflsmiley:  :puke:

I saw Van Halen in Detriot ( Royal Oak) must have been in 83-84 and they opened for Journey. David Lee Roth stole the show.
