    I just brought the 72 Challenger home.

    Original paint was Top Bannana, repainted a darker yellow, and re painted top bannana...I am sure now I do not like the color...sad to say.....

    The Engine is a nicely built 360. From the way it tries to launch itself and stalls it was recommended to install a Stall-converter...(new stuff to me).

    The car itself is mostly in tact although a bit rough around the edges... with some rust from northern use, and a nice dent in the roof from a tree limb.

    Interior: Most of the rally guage set-up seems to work. I need to instal the bezles, and the left hand control panel. It needs a T-handle as this one is broken past decent usage... and a whole in the drivers floor....or is that the whole drivers floorboard.  :eek7:

    Otherwise it will likely need a driver quarter (due to rust), and the Bulge hood is a bit rough at the front edge... hmmmm bulge or shaker - lol

    and it needs a new front shock as this one is dead. and the fact that the car is sitting at an angle (ground slopes a bit right there...pluss I am higher than the car)

    Most of the rust that you see is not that bad, its the rust you cant see in the pics...

    Looks like you will be busy. Nice ride just the same. Keep us posted on your progress and what your plans are for the Challenger.

    mostly its all there, leaving me with less too much to look for than I feared.

    the metal I had for the 73, and ended up not needing, will save me a good bit.
    I mainly lack the driver's quarter.

    I would like a set of sway bars as this one does not have them...
    I would also like to remove the vinyl top, and would like to install an antenna in the rear quarter, and decals. ... otherwise a pretty stock setup

    I have a body guy that is pretty good and willing to do most of the work ... lets see whar I am by fall...

    Was hoping to read only missing sway bars, thought someone was going to make a cuda g-machine :roflsmiley:  Looks like a good project, now get to work!

    looks like a T bar is broke, not a dead shock,the shock doesnt support the weight of the car....but im sure the shocks are also dead  :rofl:

    but I agree that it looks more like the torsion bar or crossmember,mine had a broken bar.

    when the car was in the air the wheel would hang low, when he lowered it it dropped and the shock stuck. 

    He had it elevated for storage and instead of supporting it under the wheel support he let the wheels hang... so far it looks to be the shock...it dropped and stuck.

    OK torsion bar so far looks fine... but the Strut bar IS bent....which were you speaking of?

    strut bar really has no affect on ride height.  The torsion bar looks ok? Not broke?  How about the cross member where it goes into, is it rusted out?

    I will have to look again ... just to make sure, but at a quick glance it looked fine...

    I can say one thing...

    the adjustment screw that goes up thru the bottom of the lower control arm is supposed to seat into this metal wing looing thing....there is a nice gap between them...

    if you take a bar under the drum and lift up.... the lower arm the "wing" mooves up at the same rate...if I take a screw driver and pry down on the "wing" it feels like it is spring loaded...but wants to go back up when I let off of it..

    maybe the torsion bar adjuster bolt broke that goes into the LCA when someone was trying to adjust it. they get pretty rusty! that could be a very possible cause,probably would be the best thing to let go if you had to choose between rusty rail and broke t bar!
