Sure, it'll handle it. My question is why? Is there any benefit to you spending all that money for the operating system so you can slow your machine down? (That's almost universally the experience of anyone "upgrading" to vista from a previous operating system-it slows down because it takes so much cpu power and memory just to sit there with a desktop displayed.)
Looking forward to finding out whether there are stable vista drivers written for your hardware yet? You better hope there are, otherwise you get to deal with the headache of not being able to use some parts of the system. Same with any software you've installed-you too can be a beta tester for microsoft, and pay for the privilege.
I'm not saying that no one should ever buy vista. There will come a time when it's inevitable, due partly to XP no longer being supported. But, that time is not now, and won't come for several years. Let the majority of the bugs get ironed out, and watch the price gradually drop. Paying top dollar now for a buggy OS (they're already talking about the 1st service pack) basically amounts to you paying microsoft a premium price to be a beta tester. I personally can think of much better uses for my money, such as giving it away to random people on the street. I may end up broke either way, but my computer will still run fine.
