OK---I have kinda watched this topic and decided to re-live a little of my concert memories with you guys.   Like most of you, I have seen most of the great ones at one time or another.  Being a southern rock kind of guy, Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, .38 Special, Marshall Tucker,  etc  all hold a special place for me.  I have seen em all many times.
Back in my junior and senior year in high school we used to pull the old I'm spending the night and Billy's and then we told his parents he was staying with me routine.  There was usually 3 or four of us getting together.  Back then, The Allman Brothers and sometimes Skynyrd and Wet Willie and other Southern Bands would play in Atlanta's Piedmont Park for free.  Us guys would fake spending the night and hop a bus to Atlanta, (about a 25 mile ride) then walk or hitch a ride to the park.. There was free food, (usually boiled potatoes, or boiled cabbage and onions, or something cheap like that), and free drinks.  Never saw a fight, or even an arguement. We spent many, many days/nights at that park chilling on the grass listening to some of the best music ever played---all for free.  Those were great times.  Can't do stuff like that anymore---but it was awesome while it lasted.............   Oldschool     :cooldancing:

For me it was 1983 or 1984. Ozzy with Motley Crue as the opening act. 4th row seats right in front of the stage.  :ylsuper:

Oldschool - Glad you finally chimed in here, I thought that yours was going to be something like Mozart and his Deaftones.

Backstreet Boys does not let Rev off the hook - Do you all remember what she said admitted to. In my era that was like being caught wearing granny panties (not that I was ever caught - They were just so comfortable) or something - NOT COOL.

The one so far that I wished that I could have seen was "The E Street Band", from what I have told that is one helluva concert.

First: Alice Cooper headlining, opening act was Crack the Sky, 2nd act was Blondi...i think it was 1975??

Best:  lots of good ones...saw Blue Oyster Cult when they used to go out to small local bars to warm up for their tours...they were under the name "Soft White Underbelly"  saw them in 1984 at a bar called the Stone Balloon in Newark Delaware. Bought a beer for Buc Darhma and he gave me a guitar pic.

Saw Frank Zappa in the early 90's several times, all good shows and great times!

best concert i missed...had tickets for Led Zep in Philly when Robert Plants son died and they cancelled the remainder of the tour...i think it was 2 weeks away when his son passed on.

Last concert...Yes a couple of years ago...John Anderson can still hit the high notes. Maybe not as high as when he was younger, but I was impressed.

First album...Alice Cooper...schools out

I'll tell ya what happened one evening that was pure luck.   My date and I were going to see Jimmy Buffet at the Fox theater in Atlanta.  We were watching that show and whoever was running the sound was way off.  Not only could you not understand what he was singing, you couldn't even tell which song it was supposed to be.  It was terrible, and I like Jimmy buffet.  SO--we left that show very early and I suggested that since we were that close to Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom, we should walk over there and go in and see what was up.  It was only a block or 2 over there, so off we went.  BTW---a lot of enduring rockers got their start at the Ballroom.  Anyway, we went in and were absolutely blown away by Ted Nugent and later was Molly Hatchet.  It was an unadvertised gig.   Stayed there until the show ended late into the night.  Went home with ears ringing, but what a show!  Stumbled out of one show and into a classic, all unexpectedly.  Sometimes those are the best.  I'll never forget that night----AWESOME!!    :ylsuper:

Two that stick out in my mind were Boston comes alive tour in Macon in 1976 and the four night concert that the Allman Bros did at the City auditorium in Macon (Dec. 91 I think) when they recorded "An evening with the Allman Bros."
Just a quick story about that event. I was working t-shirt security that event, and about the third night I was outside near the parking lot where the band members came in. There was a ruckous in the parking lot at the road between a Ford van and a cop. I walked down to see what was going on and there was a seasoned cop arguing with the driver of the van. I asked if there was something I could do and the cop said, "This damn hippy says he is with the band and wants me to let him park in here."
I look in the van and sure as heck there is Warren Haynes and several young ladies, trying to get in. I explaned the the cop that Warren WAS with the band and by the time he got inside the band was already headed to the stage. That was my brush with fame I guess, saving the day.....lol
