Maybe it's me, but I get annoyed when...

When I see new members posting in just the forsale adds and sometimes the prices are just sky high compared to the member comradship we share around here. I feel like I'm beeing fleeced or something like violated. Some new members are down to earth and post decent normal prices, then some are just out to get rich if they can. I know prices on certain e body parts are made of that unobtainium metal or plastic, but sure saddens me when I see someone just here to make money if they can and not worry about making friends with a very good group of people.

When I got left over stuff from some of my projects, or make a mad trip to my stash, I share my stuff at what I consider a decent price, just so others may have a chance to build and enjoy the hobby.

I was gonna say something about that also but feel that if someone is willing to pay outrages prices for parts,then oh well.I try and be fair on anything I have and have given stuff to people just because thats the way I am.Don't get me wrong I am not rich by any means but consider myself a very lucky guy to have the junk that I have.And when I buy stuff for my cars I set a price that I am willing to pay and thats it.So sometimes it takes some time to get the parts I need.And I also keep a list of members and people I know that are not in it for the money.But to answer the question----Yes it burns my butt-----The Clown

Gotta agree Moparal,
I see the same thing on my car club web site. Someone will post a listing and that's all you'll hear. What's worse on our site is the folks that register and then post spam for Viagra or sex sites. We've had to use extra admin folks to moderate the site. It's just nuts now and harder and harder to have a clean safe place!! By the way, this is an awesome site and you folks are great people!! I appreciate folks that have the same passion for cars and just want to enjoy the hobby and help each other out that have the same interests and occasionally just want to help out someone else that's just getting started in the hobby!:2thumbs:

Us MODS watch who is postng and what they are posting.  If it gets out of hand, we'll shut them down.  But we do allow people/members/newbies to come and post MOPAR related thread with parts to sell even though the prices are through the roof and they may never be back until they have something more to sell.      Someone could need the part and are willing to pay.

I did exactly that on Moparts.com years ago, list parts for sale & had never posted in the other forums. I wasn't aware of the discussion forums back then, & was just happy to find an on line classified website related to Mopar. I think it took me 3 or 4 months before I had realized there were other forums on that site. To originally get there, I did Google searches to buy some parts for my Satellite when I ran accross the classifieds directly without seeing the main page. It was also the early stages of me using the internet, so I had never been on line much other than email. I remember selling some NOS trim & lenses for a 1970 GTX on there that went fast.

Yeah, sometimes there are people just using the free ads, but maybe there's some other reasons they don't post, I don't worry about it, but do make note as to who I know or may not know & use caution.

I too have to agree with high prices.but the car hobby as a whole has doneit not anyone in general. heres somthing to ponder.when was the last time you went to youre local car dealer & paid the first price for that car? or that swap meet part? im not writing here to pi$$ anyone off or offend them so please dont take this wrong. if i have a part someone wants send me a p/m I"ll gladley send pics you make me an offer. would like to see somebody that could use this stuff.SO MAKE ME AN OFFER !! thanks   BILL

Maybe you could have a rule of say 50 posts before you could post in the for sale adds. It's just a thought, I know of message board that do this before you can post a pic. It sort of makes sure they will be  somewhat be contributing to the site.

This hobby is not what it used to be. Now it's always     I waited a long time to get a 'Cuda.Thought it was going to be fun.Turned out it's just mainly a cut-throat buisness. Alot of people are looking to cash in. Makes it tougher than ever!!

well I dont mind so much as new posters as I mind someone just joining and posting parts for a rediculous price. Price gougers I guess is the word.

Like I said, the people here are for the most part level headed hobbiest. We all stick together helping each other locate and fix our hobbies to be enjoyed and maybe get together and meet other members in events and shows. Then SWOOSH here comes a newbie just trying to make some quick fast high dollar cash without reguards of knowing the way we share and enjoy are parts and cars.  Like a rotten shell of a car for 2k that has nothing to it and a 73 model 318 that would take 15k just to get it to roll and drive, when it should be sold as parts if anything is any good on it to help others. Or selling beat up bent factory mags for 80 bucks each because they are 15x7's and might can be straightend.   Yeah it's just me tho. But I don't like it.

I am considering selling my 74 bb challenger. Needs tlc cosmetics and paint.  It's tagged, insured and has perfect floors,trunk,fenders,doors,and quarters. New engine with 100 or so miles on it, it's been running for a year or more, I just don't have time to drive it much. new front end, sure grip, shift kit...yadda yadda for 10k to any member that wants a solid fun driving project to enjoy and not to resell for a profit.

Some newbies would post the same car for 18k or more just to gouge on someone. Knowing full well it's not a 70/71/ or hp vin.  That's the difference I am getting at. By the time they paint the car and put seat covers in it, a set of better panels and stuff, the car is way up there in price. Doesn't seem right 2 me.  If there is a long time member here that really wants a fun clean bb challenger to tinker on and enjoy while they drive it PM me.  But I won't sell to flippers and gougers.

very good solid body

And I am stopping the list here, there are other things that I have done to this car as well.
To me, this is a good solid 10k car you can enjoy and drive as you finish it up.  A gouger would go for the juggler on this car. I myself would be happy knowing I helped out a member that really wanted a good solid start in the hobby and respect the stuff he got.  And maybe show up at an event with it

But it's the internet and anything goes. So we must as members, help watch each others backs for these scammer types.

I was just thinking of another reason you will see high prices. This has happened to me & a couple of close friends, so I'm sure other members on here are familiar with it too. You advertise a car or part at a fair or inexpensive price, only to have someone BS you on their intentions when buying it. Later, you see your car or part being flipped at a much higher price.

Many years ago, I sold someone I had known for several years, a rim blow steering wheel for $35 that was in mint condition. I went to a swap meet that same week, & saw that wheel at his vending space for $135. I've nothing against making a profit, but it only takes getting burned by someone taking advantage of you a few times before you sour to the idea of "helping" out.

I still help close friends without a second thought, by either giving away an extra part I don't need, or just simply asking them to give me what I paid for it. I sold a running & driving, 1968 Barracuda convertible to one of my best friends so he & his son could work together on a project car. I bought it about 10 years ago for $600 & had gathered up another $300 worth of parts for it & sold it to him for the same $900. Probably would have gotten $3000 on ebay.

I think this is a sticky topic because you shouldnt just give your parts away either...if you can make more on ebay why not
Most of us here is probably ebay members and can stop bidding when they think the price is to high!!!

But I dont think you should sell someone a rare piece have them pay the rare price and find out youve just been hustled because the piece is unrepairable or something like that.....
