Blow by HEMI!!
« on: February 02, 2007 - 07:42:24 AM »
The 472 Hemi from Mopar I had just bought in Dec 06 seems to like oil more then gas. In the first 264 miles it drank 2 quarts. So I changed oil & filter, In the next 176 miles it drank close to 4 quarts. Cummings (the builder of mopar crate engines) is sending a truck next week to pick it up. They seem very concerned & want to get it fixed right away. Has anyone else had problems with MP crate engines or am I just an odd duck? :bricks1:

Yes you are an odd duck, but that has nothing to do with crate motors!

well while they are picking your engine up have them swing by & get my customers as well , we ordered the 360 , I checked it before installation & the the cam was installed 1 tooth off , the cam was locktited into the rear brg & there was steel slivers inside the engine + it was assembled dry , after starting it it overheating on the cam break in so we opened the rad , it was contaminated with mud from an uncleaned block , we flushed the cooling system & started again & tryed to finish the cam break in , this time it ate the cam , so drop the pan , change the cam & start again , now the engine shook so badly the dash was jumping 2-3 " inside th ecar between 2500-3500 RPM it was so far out of balance so out comes the engine again , my customer ended up fixing the 340 & selling the car he was so choked , so we still have this usless engine & Mopar is giving me the Go Fork Yourself warranty

The 472 HEMI I received was run on a dino for 1 hour at Cummings before they packaged it up for shipment. Mopar told me that all the hemis get that treatment. Dosent sound that way for the smal blocks. Have you called 1-888-528-HEMI and reported the problem? You only have 90 days form purchase date
