« on: September 19, 2003 - 08:14:01 PM »
Here is a 69 340 4spd Savage GT Barracuda

has anyone seen one or know anything about them.  as a search on hotbot brings up Gary Savage and AAR cudas
Was this car a tribute to Driver Gary Savage / Swede Savage (Is this the same person)? Was this a dealer package?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6409&item=2433209027

owner calls it 1 of 13  1 of 8 340's

I believe the car was done by a dealership named Savage.
It had some add on bodywork, [spoilers/flares maybe]
I think most were 340 cars. The suspensions were set up for better handling/ weight transfer.  The steering wheel was proprietary. The engine came Dealership tuned. There are several more modifications I don't remember.
I read an article about one of the originals - but kept more original than this one- several years ago.
Seemed to be a very potent package.

Sort of like a Tasca Talladega [Tasca Ford, Rhode Island] , or a Balwin-Motion camaro [Motion Perf, Long Island , New York] .

Yes and there was also rumored to have made a 70 Savage Cuda. They also did Darts too. My AAR came out of Culpepper Chrysler Plymouth in Virginia and when I talked to one of the owners of the dealership he was telling me of all the cars they sold. Among them were 3 AAR's (mine included) a few lift off hood cars (his son still owns one) a truck called a Midnight Special which he said was like the LiL Reds but all in dark blue colors. He also said that one car that came across his lot was a 70 Savage Cuda. Now Im sure it was a Barracuda much like a Gran Coupe. Very interesting cars though.
Dont forget to register your AAR at the AAR Registry only at www.transamcuda.com 1981 AAR's on file. Also info on 70 thru 74 E-Bodies. Ask me about yours!!

I live 20 miles from Culpepper Virginia.
I have spoken to some folks (don't remember who it was now) who know the owner of the dealership.
I've heard that the owner owns some cool Mopars. I'm pretty sure one of them is a Superbird.
Just for reference, Culpepper is where Christopher Reeves (Superman) had his spinal injury after being thrown from a horse..

Hey Guy's,
I could be wrong but I remember reading an article in MCG about a Savage GT. From what I remember they were actually built in Australia and had a six cylinder Hemi and square headlights. I think it was the Bayer brothers who bought the car and it took over a year to get it shipped to the USA. It certaintly did not look like the car for sale on ebay.  Anybody else remenber this article???

Hey MOPARMAN!!! Any chance you can get your hands on a Culpepper Chrysler Plymouth license plate frame?? That was the only thing they put on the cars they sold at the dealership. Skeeter Davis is the son of one of the owners and they have a few but wouldnt sell me one. I would like to find one to put on my car as it was sold there. I have a friend near there his name is Charlie Lacy he owns a motorcycle/snowmobile shop and hes supposed to be looking for one also. I dont remember either owner saying they owned a Superbird but I do know they owned (I think it was) an aluminum front end car they drag raced called the Virginian which is now located in Lancaster Pa. Was a heavily campaigend drag car. The white AAR they sold is supposed to be in heap in a junkyard down that way. Kid who bought the car totalled it a few weeks after he bought it and was killed in it. Wouldnt know anything about that car would ya??

Does anyone have any pictures, details from the Ebay link that was posted on one of these for sale in 2003? Just curious if this car is one of the known survivors. Thanks for any info.
