I love them too,I think people underestimate the 383.My 70 GC and 69 bee and both 383hp numbers cars.If you look at ferd and cheby,no one seems to care if they didnt get a big block,a 350 is totally acceptable.Ma mopar did put big blocks in more cars than anyone else so people expect a hemi under the hood,even though a 340,383,440,426h are all respectable high performance motors.I have had several 440hp B bodies,love the motor,would i rather plop in a 440 instead of keeping my numbers 383's?,not a chance,I can build a 383 anyday of the week that will spank a stock/lightly built 440hp.The sky's the limit when building a motor,heck i remember reading an acticle in a mopar mag with a guy and his duster and a /6 running a 9 second 1/4.IN my book a BB is a BB,no one would complain if they had a cheby with a 396,a 383 is a better motor to me.
