How can I tell if my car was etup for 4 or 5 bow headliner??

are the clips that support the bows still hooked into the body ?

I'm not sure of the year of your car but my 73's came from the factory with 4 bows although the roof of the cars had the holes for more. Somewhere mid 72 year they switched from 5 to 4. My guess is you could use either. If I had the extra bows I would have went with the 5 for the easier install.

I have a 72 Challenger and I bought a 5 bow set off ebay...the build date on the car was 1/16/72
???

'71 and up bows have a bend at the ends that hook into one of the three holes in the roof.

As long as your car has the holes for the bows along each side, you should be able to order a 5 bow headliner and it should fit. Like I said above, my 73's both had the extra holes for the 5 bows so I don't know why they switched to 4 other than the cost of the extra bow.
