Rally Dash
« on: February 06, 2007 - 02:17:13 PM »
the 72 has a rally dash... the inst cluster was installed the left hand side was not.

I took the old out and the rally version cleaned them up, swapped out switches and reinstalled it.

the rally bezel looks like it will be a real pain in the A$$ to get to fit...any suggestions?

also I noticed they are ..."light" tubes for the signal lights and a few others...how many should there be.  I think I am missing one or two...any pics?

Here is a pic of my back-up set for a 70. I call it my mini 401K.  The right tube is the brake light. The other 2 are for the turn signals. The plastic bezels are indeed a pain to deal with. Put the gauge bezel on first, but don't screw it down until you message the switch bezel in there. The bezels kind of interlock.

OK so the switch bezle goes in second... cool.

Those white tubes...I am missing one, and one is broken...any idea where to find replacements?

It's been a while, so I may not get everything.  Disconnect the battery and speedo cable, drop the steering column, remove the radio and heater trim, remove the light bar, switch panel, gauge bezel, unscrew gauge assembly and tilt to gain access to the wires attached to the gauges, hi beam, turn signals, tach and ammeter. Gauge assembly will be free to come out.

You did just fine, but the radio and heater trim don't need to be removed.

Got the bezels in and switch panel working...

I suggest dropping the steering column (dropped mine as low as I could without taking the nuts off)
and removing the clock reset knob.

I still have no dash lights...I will have to work on that one...will be hard to drive at night with no dash lights...I am also missing a light tube...but wiil have to do without for now..

I also have no screws to hold the bezzels in...any suggestions?

Man it looks good with the bezzels in place...I even got lucky enough to have switches with the colored dimples...pretty cool :working:
