There is a guy in our club that has a 70 or 71 Fury with a brown Mod Top.
JS27

That would be a 1970 Fury Gran Coupe.  A "bargain luxury" mid-year package based on a 2-Door Sedan.  It was really more of a paisley pattern than a Mod Top.  Available with a special walnut color paint and the brown paisley vinyl roof and matching intrior cloth.

FWIW in 1969 my Dad was in charge of Chrysler's soft trim division.  He had a B3-blue '69 300 covertible fitted with the blue Mod Top seat inserts and convertible boot.  Hey flower power was big back then.  I'll see if I can find a pic.

I gotta see that!

I know of a 440-6, one Hemi and two 318 Barracudas with the Mod Top.

The Hemi car should be making a public debut fairly soon...........  ;)
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

There is a factory 383 mod top cuda here in Panama city. I was told that it was the only 70 Cuda Mod top in existance? Needs a full restoration but hey, he has got it. i think that you can see pics of its current condition on www.emeraldcoastrestorations.com

Wow,

This is a lot more response than I hoped for. It seems like they are starting to filter their way back to the shows.

I can't wait to see more in person.

As far as Color and trim Division-Ty, very cool. They had access to some cool stuff, and only your dad would know what they tried- that didn't make it. The Mod  Top did, so you gotta wonder what else they had that did not go through...LOL

I saw a Dart at a show last summer with a "mod top". I never heard of such a thing until reading this thread. When I saw that dart, I just thought the owner had really bad taste and had modified it himself. Now, I hope I see that car again so I can take a closer look and appreciate it for what it is. I learn new things every day on this site. :2thumbs:

I think it'd take some nerve for a guy to drive a car with a mod top, all those wild colored flowers  :roflsmiley: j/k but seriously I wouldn't want one. However, and I'm not sure if it was considered a mod top or not, but in 70 or 71 Plymouth offered a brown paisly print for a vinyl roof. Different but not too flashy, nope couldn't bring myself to order that one either  :roflsmiley: but I did consider it on my 71 Sport Fury.

There are 2 69 mod top sattelites in town here, one blue and a white one(supposedly very rare) both are 318 cars.
I had seen a 70 barracuda down in Bozeman Mt as well.

And I thought that Gator was rare, can you imagine trying to find the material to restore one of those.

Oddly enough, some of the Mod Top material is available, while the Gator material is not.  :clueless:

If I had a 70 Cuda spec'd out for a Mod top. I would do it. I'm that freaky.  :bananasmi :ylsuper: :screwy:

Then, I would have to sell it, just because my wife would not take it (my hobby) seriously. hahahaha

You never know. That stuff could come back in style.

In the back of my mind for a future project.....

Petty Blue or white Superbird clone with the blue Mod top and seats.

I would have so problem driving a "shower curtain" car.

I can recall seeing a few of them over the years, but they were usually beaters.
Obviously made for the fairer sex.
I think those cars fall under the "it's rare for a reason" category.
