Poll - Console or No Console
« on: February 09, 2007 - 01:48:41 PM »

Well, if money allows, the 'Cuda will be getting the Keisler 5-Speed. Not if but when. If not now, one day. What's your opinion on console or no console manual equipped E-Bodies? Myself, I like the look of the non console but having somewhere to put spare keys, smokes, wallet, cellphone, gum, etc  is also a very handy thing to have and looks nice too. The glove-box is too far and not user friendly enough to store such items IMO. What's you take?

For a 70 I say no console, just because it is a lot more difficult to get a 70 4 speed console, 71 and up go with the console.

I have both and I really like the console.  Actually was thinking about putting one in the hardtop as the CD player takes up the glove box and there's nowhere to put anything.   :grinyes:

Yeah, 4C, that's what I like about it most. I wear blazers when I drive but having my inner and outer pockets filled with phones, wallet, keys, garage opener and other crap would be uncomfortable and annoying.

I voted for console too.

Console and roof console too. They're both cool. :)

I'd love to see both finished with more modern materials though. Brushed aluminum or carbon fiber instead of the cheesy woodgrain. Maybe real wood would be nice too. Some curly/flamed/birds eye maple with a nice stained finish would look awesome.

I like the console. It just screams E-Body to me.  :2cents:

Just looking at the photos above, it makes it more of a c0ckpit, or it encloses the driver in the drivers "head quarters" where-as the non-console shifter is open and not enclosed. Which could be good for some people I guess.

I like the console. In case someone is in the passenger side that you don't want to get close. :poopoke:

Jackie,
That is what the ejection seat is for.

Personally, I do not care for the consoles, they just look cheesy to me and there is no cup holder.  I may make a custom one for my T/A with cup holders, I like to have my coffee when I drive.

I don't know but just wondered if the Kiesler shifter's position will readily fit the factory console. :clueless:
of course you can get more girls in a non-console model anyway
