Originally my car didn't have one, then I put one in and just love it...will never to back. Mind you it is an automatic.

Wonder how many of the votes are from guys thinking with auto cars?
If it hasn't got a console on an auto car it's either a B&M style aftermarket job or column shift.

For a slapstik you must have the console. It is a nice thing to have though.
I have decided to go without a console - bare bones driving style! :smokin:

If i wanted to get one, how hard are they to come by?

Easy to find, just check out eBay and there will be plenty.
Though, condition wise, you'll pay for a restored 4-speed console, especially the one off 70 year.

Hell yes!!! That is super sexy mate, clean & tough, I love it.
I've been looking for one with a tuff wheel as well as that's how mine will be......same as yours.

That's awesome mate and you've sold me - no console it is.
Ps: Do you have any other shots of the shifter, side on and a little closer?

Here are a couple more pictures of the pistol grip shifter with no console. Glad i could be of some help here.

I personally like the console.  Mine came with one.  I found an overhead out of a Gran Coupe in a junk yard and even though my Challenger is not an SE, I made a front bracket and added that one too!

:clapping: My '70 Challenger has a consul with the slapstick, however I'm fitting a 4 spd later and was going to modify the top plate. I have had in the back of my mind about leaving out the consul. My '70 Aussie Valiant Pacer didn't have a consul and it did make it look meaner. The pic's on this thread certainly look great, I will definetly be leaving out the consul, at least for a while :2thumbs: I will have to find another place for the coffee cup.  :woo: Strange how a good restoration pic's can change a persons mind. :picture:
