    Who's driving, one of the owners or just a guy that don't care what happens ?  :roflsmiley: Good question, I'd say the 440 since I've been told the finely tuned 440+6 can SOMETIMES take the Hemi car down the track. Now that is an accomplishment. I'm sure this will bring out the debate team, personally my lack of knowledge and experience can only give ya a "I beleive, based on what I've been told that....................".  :stirpot:

    I will try to answer myself :bigsmile:

    It is all about the tires. With original tires the 340+6 would get more traction than 440+6 and would win the 1/8 drag race but 1/4 mile...hmmm... :clueless: On some modern tires...now this is another story... :clueless:

    Granted 290 HP vs 390 HP but the small block is lighter...I would still say the 440+6 would still be a second quicker....say 13.7 vs. 14.7+

    But really how often do those things ned to be changed?An air gap intake solves the heated carb problem.I know per dollar a big block will put out more HP but I love the sound of my 340 at 6800rpm!

    There is no replacement for cubic inches,the more the better! That's why everything is stroked for more cubes!!! :burnout:

    My 440 six pack is abosolute hell on wheels.  I've been in many mopars and it runs as strong as any.  However, I have to say my big block, four speed, no air is truly work out to get out and cruise.  I would much rather have a small block car to cruise more often.  I nice 318 or 340 car would still look fast.

    In  a 60' race, the 340 would win. anything longer than that, the 440 will win. Assuming both cars are driven by guys that can drive...lol.

    Which one is better...The one you're building for your car is always the best :bigsmile:. Otherwasie, anything can be built to be faster.

    Lots , the dist is at the front for easy adjustment & leaned over to clear the blower , the oil pump is outside the engine & can be adjusted for the exact pressure needed & or replaced easily , this also allows for external oil lines to the pan in large stroker applications , the crank is raised into a skirted block for more bottom end strenght & cross bolted caps , the oil pan is a flat seal instead of having banana seals at both ends , the intake is dry with the cross over in the water pump , it has a natural air gap design as well & no water passages through the timing cover to potentially leak into the oil system  , the water pump can be replaced Without touching the housing , 5 bolt / cylinder head bolts
     the small block was designed After the big block & has none of these features , I never figured out why  :dunno: :clueless:
     I have never seen a stock 383 out run a 340 but 340+6 vs 440+6 is no contest , the only place a 340 Might beat a 440 is in a corner & I don`t even buy that if the 440 has the front & rear sway bars like the 340 TA /AAR

    The poll is great as to quote Ricky Bobby - “You can’t have two number ones because that makes eleven”. So I haveto vote for the big block!

    My 440 has so much torque, it does a better job of snapping my neck back into place than my chiropractor.  :2thumbs:
