radiator support
« on: February 11, 2007 - 10:41:44 AM »
I got a support from a salvage yard to fix a buddy challenger which was hit hard in the front. The support has the number EO 126609. What does the EO mean? Shouldn't the EO be OE like on the vin? I just seemed fishy. I tried to look at mine but the paint is to thick ( I used the heavy filler primer) and can't see my numbers, and I'm not sand on my car. LOL. Is this right, I mean the car was sitting in a salavage yard so I don't see a reason someone would mess with the numbers? I guess It doesn't matter to him because I will cut his number off the junk support and switch it to the new one so it matches the cowl and vin.

Yes that is the radiator support. But shouldn't it be  OE126609 like the cars vin would appear? Just seems weird that mopar would flip those two letters.

That is a support from the L.A. plant for sure. My numbers look like that too. I think on my cowl. I'm sure CODY can confirm this. He runs the L.A. registry for 1970 cars.

The year and plant codes are supposed to be flipped on the body numbers.  ;)

Barry,

Were those body stampers allowed to drink on the job back then, or what?  I don't see a reason to "flip".  :clueless:

I will have to let Cody know that this car is in a bone yard, with no hopes of being restored. It was pretty striped out and rusted. I did notice that the dash and vin are gone along with the rest of the interior.

I am not sure why they did it, just that they did. It could have been part of the federal requirements for the "hidden" numbers.  :dunno:
