I know dodge wants to create  some brand identification, but the same grille on everything the produce is getting really old. :horse:

Other than that nice roadster with the exception of the name  :2thumbs:

I agree with NZ...  Lunchbox , (going over to what the heck is it after this) as far as the grille's Pontiac, Ford, Chevy they all do it. It's like all the cars from each company are the same  except for the size of the vehicle. Look at Chevy's the cars & trucks have that same look..
Go figure.....

I know what your saying but I still don't like it no matter if its Dodge, Chevy, Toyota, etc. I don't want my trunk to look like a car/minivan from the front.

Thanks for the 'insider' viewpoint dmz.... I do like the interior in the pics you posted. If it has decent performance and the right pricetag, it might do OK. (Not my cup of tea, however.... I'm still holding out for the reincarnated Challenger!) Like the majority stated here though, the grille has got to go.... along with the name. That didn't fly with the classic Charger crowd, something called Demon isn't going to fare much better.

Another major concern is why and how can they afford this!?!?! With all these designs popping up, although this maybe just another pro-concept job, how can they afford it? I think they're going too far. They should make the Challenger which has been very well except (understatement) and make it right. If sales go well and they make decent profits then go to the drawing board and design a new retro car. If they start putting 2 or 3 new retro cars on yards IMO there will be a big slump and a loss of sales. Designing cars, making them & advertising them is not a cheap game.

:2cents:

I think we should let the people who get payed to build and market new cars decide if this is worth it or not.  Nor do I see anything retro about this.  If you read the previous posts, you would know the name was chosen AFTER the car was designed.

Personally, I don't like it.  But, I'm not a fan of the small, roadster-ish cars, so I'm biased.  It'll compete with the Solstice, which is something that Mopar needs.

They done well with the Charger...not really. I read the previous posts, before or after it really makes no difference.
The car is named after a classic, is it not? Fact of the matter is they will be sold as a Demon. As for leaving the guys who design and pay for it decided, of course, I'm just saying from a consumers stand point that I don't think they'll sell what they make. The "man" or the guys in the boardrooms aren't always correct, from your post you obviously believe they are.

Jumping on the "Retro" bandwagon" doesn't seem right if you're only using the name.  Whaddya think?

Another Charger. Another GTO. Use the name to generate some interest, then put it on a piece of crap that bears no resemblance to its namesake. I think all of these designers should be put on a boat to South America, and let them design cars there. And who the Hell wants a sports car with the same grill as a one ton pickup?  :swear: :swear: :pullinghair: :pullinghair: :banghead: :banghead:

I read the title of this thread, and i thought "oh f**k, not another one" and really wasnt surprised with what I saw when I opened the thread.
It looks alot like a Honda s2000 to me, which doesnt fit the name at all.

Instead of making cars with big ugly crosshair grilles on them, then putting well known dodge nameplates on to get them to sell, why not make cars that look good, then make new nameplates for them and let them sell based on their looks (I am not mentioning performance, build quality etc. because I know that things will be the same regardless of what it looks like and its name)
Its called Innovation

I guess what im trying to say here is that names and crosshairs dont sell cars, looks and performance/reliability do.

Not always.  Just alot more often than the average 21 year old.

To put it another way:  You don't tell a doctor or a lawyer how to do his or her job, do you?  If you don't like the car, it's as simple as not buying it.  You don't have to bash either it, or the people who designed it.  Especially when one of the designers happens to be a member here.  I may not be the nicest guy around (far from it, actually), but I at least have that much courtesy.

WTF are you going on about Ghost.

Of course I don't tell my doctor what to do, he/she is operating on me. It's nothing like "telling" a car designer what to build. I never told anyone what to do, it was an opinion on what "may" become. I was stating it from a business point making these cars at once is a big vacuum on funds, if you're the smallest company or the biggest, money is money.

IMO they may become too c0cky and ahead of themselves. Build the Challenger, once, and right. If sales are good then move on and create & build more. I know I don't have to buy the car, no need for the cheek either mate. I can & will "bash" it if I like...WTF. It's called opinion. If the designer is here I'll tell him/her what I think, like I would in person, it's called speaking the mind, or, not brown nosing, which there is too much of these days.

Once again, the car (like 90% of others have said) is butt ugly in my own opinion.

What is with these guys in design. Are they that burnt out that they can't come up with a better looking front end. That is the same design they used on the trucks and chargers. I guess I should be happy they didn't put it on the Challengers!!
I have to correct myself but if you look close the new Challenger does have the cross bar grille DAM !! :stomp:

yes, it does, but do you see how suttle it is compared to the Demon....there is the key.

Even the older cars changed the "signature look" enough to keep it a "look" and not a standard part that had to be wedged into every make and model.

look back at the old school Mopar basics... what made a muscle car, what made kids, adults, etc want a car...no it was not the frills or grills, it was the simple look, and the haul a$$ features of the cars...sure was not the gas milage.(that is another story but when my Dad's 73 D-100 still gets darn near the milage of his 2000-1500 something is wrong there) a basic car with a simple musle feel/look

Oh, boy...... let's all be friends, alrighty guys!

Dan, I hope the comments here are not to harsh, and you've responded in a very gentlemanly way.  (Any one remember the topic of the G-Force Cuda?  :grinyes: )  You've got a job that a lot of people only wished they had.  We all like to play arm chair auto designer!

It's not just a Dodge thing, but all manufacturers are doing the brand identification thing.  Heck, BMW started doing that pretty early in the game with the kidney shaped grill openings.  In my opinion, it's just that the Dodge cross hair grill is so in your face.  The New Challenger looks more subtle but I think even the Caravan is getting an even more pronounced cross hair grill so that it looks more like the Ram truck, if I'm not mistaken.

The name doesn't bother me.  It's kinda cool that the Demon name is being brought back.  IF they make a hi-po version it would be cool if they called it the "Speed Demon".  Like TreeFrog said, make it a no frills racer type car and price it right, make it perform, and give it some reliability and it should do well.
