I believe this is referred to in the scientific world as "Murphy's Law".

the chances of it landing face down are directly proportional to the cost of the surface it will land on - expensive, hard to clean = 100% chance of face down landing! which can be expressed thusly: $$$ + Pi = !

This is the same as the mysterious self-twirling wires. Whenever two wires get anywhere in the vicinity of each other there is an automatic attraction and they start twirling around each other until they are in a rats nest knotted up beyond beleif. I look at them and say "Damn I know that I didn't tie these in a knot".

It is even worse to clean up when it's peanut butter toast. If you haven't tried it, you don't know what you are missing.

That is histarical. I would try it, but my mom might get mad at me and the animal rights people say I'm being cruel to animals.
