1972 Challenger 340 Number Matching
« on: February 14, 2007 - 12:25:03 AM »
I just want to get an idea of what you think my car is worth. 1972 Challenger with a 340 4bbl. It is all number matching. It runs rough the engine needs to be rebuilt. Needs a little body work there is minimal to no rust at all, paint, interior and tires. I will post some pictures of the car because pictures can say more about the car than words. It is an ac car. :feedback:

These are the items that have been replaced or restored. Carb was replaced with an edelbrock performer 600cfm, I still have the original carb also. Sending unit was replaced at the same time as the gas tank was restored. It has a new alternator, fuel pump, coil, spark plugs, battery and alternator belts.

Hmmm....I'm curious what the '72-'74 cars go for.
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

You got that right . The one on E-bay looks to need alot of work and several drinks to get behind that one.

How are your seats? I hate to see you hanging here, but nobody else will throw a number at you, so I'll take the bait.  :naughty: You are in California, or out of the rust zones, right? If the body and frame are sound, I'm thinking maybe 10K here, but more pics would help.

The front seats neat to be redone that back seat is in fairly good shape. And what other parts of the car would you want pictures of? I know the frame has zero rust and the body has minor surface rust where the vinyl top used to be. I am just trying to get an idea of the price because I am thinking about selling the car and my truck and just buying one car for now while I am in school. I just dont have the time or energy for a project.

I understand where you are coming from. I was young once, although that wasn't yesterday.  :grinno: As for your car, if the rocker panels and rear quarters are solid, then you have a nice car here. If the roof is your only rust issue, then I will stick with my 10K estimate. Has the rear window leaked into the trunk and rotted out the pan? That is another common problem.  :pullinghair:

There is no rot in the trunk it is all solid. I am at work right now using my cell phone to write this but tomorrow i will take some more pictures so you can get a better idea of what the whole car looks like.

Glad someone said something before I make an a$$ of myself.    :roflsmiley:

I was thinking $8-10K.

I dunno if those NADA values are so realistic.  I saw those before and I thought they were higher than other estimates.

I looked at the NADA value for my '73 340 Cuda.  They are surprisingly high.  I hope they are right!  The Challenger should be around $9500 if they are (not sure what "low retail" exactly means)
