Cuda-Challenger @ Daytona
« on: February 18, 2007 - 01:02:26 PM »
Does anyone know if a Cuda or Challenger has ever raced in the Daytona 500? I know the Winged mopars did but I have never heard of an E-body there.  :dunno:

My vote is "NO". I can't swear to it though.

They would be the wrong vehicle class, but I think they have been used to pace some races

That would have been the wrong vehicle class and couldn't compete in NASCAR.  The E-bodies raced on the Trans Am circuit.

Never...back in the day...they only used "intermediates"...IE B bodies.

Today, it's whatever they want that can make them $$.

BTW..what a BS finish todays race was....never saw a race that had a MAJOR crash that did not have the yellow come out immediately...Mark Martin had that race stolen from him. RCR has a lot of pull there...no doubt about it.

You would have thought after 23 years of racing they would have given him the yellow flag!!!

NASCAR is usually quick to throw the yellow....but not today.

They where going to get heat either way though... :dunno:

The announcers kept saying that Nascar did the right thing by not throwing the caution because the wreck was behind the leaders.    :clueless:   Uh, what about all the cars that were still racing hard that the wreck WAS in front of...........    :dunno:   I guess I just don't get it..    Bring on the NHRA.................     :burnout:    :cooldancing:

Your right Oldschool....the only yellow in NHRA, is when they are activated on the tree.

It's too bad Mark Martin didn't win. I think he was robbed. It would have been a story book ending.  :grinyes:

There was a 71(?) Challenger Pace Car but other than that, no.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....
