Why TTI?

I have a cheap set of regular Hooker Headers I have used on a 70 Challenger and a 70 Barracuda with a 440.  I had to dent one for the steering on the Barracuda but otherwise they were fine.  I have the money for some TTIs but I just can't seem to justify spending almost 900 dollars for something that looks a little nicer, fits a little better and is a little cooler.  I could get some other ceramic headers for half the price.  All I've heard is TTIs are great, everything else sucks, but never a good exlanation. Could someone explain to me why the TTIs are worth 2 and 3 times other headers because I just don't get it. Thanks.

I'm with you buddy!!  :grinyes: I got my Hedmans ceramic coated by Jet-Hot, and at still less than half of what TTI cost. Sure I had to make a dent for the steering box, and another for the mini-starter. Is that worth saving $400. I think so .  :grinyes:

I paid a little over 600.00 for my ceramic coated headers, I will any day pay bigger bucks for a set of headers that u dont have to damage to put on the car, and the sparkplugs are easy to get too and starter motor clearance is easy. no busted knuckles here. And plus i want my car to come out PERFECT!!!!!  :bananasmi

TTI makes a great header but IMO, not 800+ dollars great. Especially if you are not running something unique. My dad's 340 car has power steering and power brakes and his much cheaper set of Hooker headers fit like a glove....They have thick flanges, no clearance problems, and they are ceramic coated too. The only drawback is that one header runs through the suspension, but for the 400 dollar difference I didnt mind doing 30 minutes of suspension work. I was impressed with them enough that I bought a set of Hooker's for my 451 and although I havn't installed them yet, for the price difference I dont care if I have to dent them or spend an hour playing with the suspension. The way I see it is that once they are installed, they look pretty much the same and even if I lose a couple HP I could more then make it up with a set of electric dumps with the money I saved. I would go with TTIs is if I was running a Hemi, Indy port engine, or if it was a car like a big block a-bod. I guess what Im saying is that if you want headers that you know will bolt in with very little trouble then go with TTI, but if you want to save a money and dont mind doing a some work then look into other headers.

Other than the TTI headers what would you recommend for a warmed up 340?

I'm happy with my tti headers on my 440. As for price, nothing is too expensive for my cars.
I've always wanted the best (not saying they're the best). Do it once, do it right. :2cents:

I run tti and still have to pull all the plugs and wires, one motor mount, jack the carand the motor, remove the header and the starter togther to get a mini starter out....am i doing something wrong :clueless:
TTI....only thing I can say is that I no longer melt all my plug wire and caps off and that alone paid for the headers.

TTIs on my RR are great, but still have clearance problems that damaged them I didn't know about till after driving a few hundred miles. I just had a local custom exhaust shop install Doug Thorley's on my 71 Cuda this week for 880.00 (INSTALLED). They're beautiful!!!!

The only reason tti's are so expensive is greed. They could post and say something different, but I know better. I saw a post from them a year or so ago about a price increase do to steel price rising. They raised their price 100 bucks in 30 days. The increase was not big enough to add 100 bucks to every single pair of headers they built. It was just greed.

I have dynomax ceramic coated headers. They fit pretty well for the price. I think I paid 150-200$ for them on ebay. The only thing is the coating sucks and kinda fades in spots.

I ran the Hooker Super Comps on the 70 Challenger RT with the Hemi. I had to pull the left torsion bar to install, they had to be dented by the steering box and I paid around $700.00 for them coated. For the Hemi Cuda I decided to go with the TTI's, spend the extra $$ and they installed much better. I paid almost a $1000.00 for them but after $125.00 per rocker they seemed like a deal, not to mention all the other costs.. They do a nice job on their headers.

Hooker headers are real good quality, and usually fit right.

I run tti and have a full size starter, I can pull starter without removing anything,no clearance issues whatsoever. In my opinon there unmatched in fit...340 with p.s

HAveing installed a lot of TTis , all I can say is the thickness of the steel both flanges & tubes & the precision fit is well worth it to me , some people have bought 3 sets of $100 ign wires in 600 miles due to burnt wires , average that out for 30,000 miles & the extra cost and hassle quickly disappers

I really like the TTI's on my 408.  Hooker Super Comps weren't alot less money. I didn't consider any other headers.
