Rear wings on the new dodge trucks
« on: February 18, 2007 - 11:44:26 PM »
The more I see those daytona trucks with the rear wings, the more they look rediculous to me.
It kinda bothers me to see the old muscle cars from the day being associated with 4 doors, wings, and all the other gimmick hype.

Kind of a worthless truck to use as a truck with that wing on the back.  Like a low rider pickup....Useless

Yep, but it doesnt really surprise me. Detroit will do anything it can to turn a profit, the big 3 have lost alot of sales over the last few years.

I wonder if the wing gets in the way when loading stuff into the bed of the truck...?

My girlfriend has a Daytona Ram and she lovesit and the wing. She did not buy it to haul, because she doesn't haul she bought it because she liked how it looked and hated being on the ground in a car where big trucks lights would blind her at night. For me the wing hasgrown on me. As for the low rider trucks, my dad had a 1500 Chevy that was dropped on the ground which was very convient for loading Harleys in the back.

A lame attempt at marketing to those who think pickups are not sporty. Quick toss a wing and some decals on it.

I have to say I like the trucks better as a 4 door and a wing than I do the Charger. The Charger is a very nice car for a 4 door sedan but it's just not a Charger. :2cents:

Makes it impossible to put a bed lid on it.  I've seen a few Daytona Rams with the wings removed and flat bed lids installed.

Doesn't bother me. I bet people didn't like Lil' Red express trucks back in 1978 either.

And now look at them.

I kinda like them.  Why?  Who else has the cojones to do something like that?  I see quite a few around here  :cooldancing:

As dar as the lid goes, on my girlfriends we are going to install one of the hard retractable lids that mount on the inside of the rails and is flush with the top of the rails. Which is the kind of lid we want any ways because in the event we haul something tall, we can pull the wing and leave the lid open.

That does add 10 psychological horsepower doesn't it?   :clueless: :roflsmiley:
