Power steering box
« on: February 20, 2007 - 07:20:01 PM »
I've gotta replace the power steering box in my 71 Charger RT. :swear: Any suggestions as to where to get a quality box without spending a ton of money? Or should I consider a rebuild rather than a new box? In either case I am going to keep the original steering box and not trade it as a core. Thanks!

I'm getting mine from the Speed Center, next door to my house. $185 with a $75 core charge. It is cheaper then rebuilding one.

I have purchased rebuilts from Napa or similar local parts store for approx the same price Jackie listed , I believe evn the firm feel boxes are just reconditioned ones

That is true but the internal valving is changed to give it a "Firmer Feel".

Is the firm feel the same price? And what is the difference? :clueless:

Like said above they change the valving inside for a firmer feel, and they are about $100 bucks more. I looked at them before getting one from NAPA a few months ago.
