From Canada to US How ?
« on: February 22, 2007 - 06:45:50 AM »
Got a friend wants to buy a car ( 32 Ferd ) in Canada and bring it back to the states.  What's involved with him picking it up and trailering it back home?  Import taxes ?  fees ? general hassles ?

Thanks,

P.G.

I have always gone the other way but I bet you need to notify the border 3 days before crossing so they make sure the car is not stolen ,I do not believe taxes are involved as it was made in the us , check with the US border

I'd definetly would check it out ahead of time. The last time I sent something (parts) north they wanted everything but a DNA sample!  :faint:

To say the least. Revenue Canada scans imports of cars very closely to ensure they are milking the very last dime out of you.

I'd say get a good shipping company and broker. I used a company called Searail, they have their own broker company they work with and they couldn't make the process any easier. It makes a big difference when the broker and shippers work with each other.  :2thumbs:
