Roller Rocker Install

Just got my new custom 1.7 FULL roller rockers and I never installed before...got all the shims etc....but some of the rockers have an L and some have an R ....which goes where....Ive set valve lash before so thats not a problem..........

we'll i found my pics and see the difference between the two...should I oil anything up before I install the rockers on the shaft??

I was actually thinking of putting assembly lube on the shafts and bearing or should you use reg. oil??

just wanna make sure?

I used GM's engine oil supplement when I installed mine, but reg oil will probably be fine....maybe CP or Moper can chime in with a definate answer.

Sorry, I just use 30wt oil. It tends to "cling" well, and I preoil turning the engine, so they will have oil before it fires. You will want to be very careful about pushrod length, pushrod to head clearance, and retainer to rocker clearance too. the higher the ratio, the more they tend to rub the pushrods on the heads. I have the pushrod holes milled a little taller for that reason on aluminum heads.

The right & left rockes have the pushrod adjuster offset to clear the intake ports you need 1 L & 1 R / cylinder
I would use something ,generally I just use a brg assembly lube when putting the rockers together

I also imagine that I will have to rotate the crank and set valve lash 1 at a time due to compressing the valve open

Basically yes you can set 2 at a time though

2 at a time hmmm.......... you have a special valve lash chart..    probably years of experience...

The Mopar cams have a lash chart but basically you can usually set 2 on any cylinder at TDC unless it is a very long duration cam

Well does anyone have any suggestions on how to install the roller rockers...I cant figure it out doesnt seem like it would be to hard but with the spacers I have to try to center the roller tips over the valve stem the .650 are a little thin and the .125 with the .650 are to wide... it seems like i would need a bunch of .015's with the .650's to center exactly over the stem or am I being to particular

you can buy packs of shims from Mopar & yes I am particular about centering the rollers over the valve tips

So basically I need a lot more .015 shims... I bought a pack from mancini and it only came with 12 ...  440 source sells packs of 36 for $20 .... but they are out right now ...

Since I swithced from 1.6 rockers to 1.7 rockers is it possible I will need a different length push rod
