needles on a Rallye dash
« on: February 23, 2007 - 05:02:48 PM »
I'm looking to help restore my friend's '71 Challenger R/T's Rallye dash gauges.. How difficult are the needles to remove on the clock, tach, etc....  The needles on the water, oil, fuel, etc don't need to be removed, so I'm not worried about those..

Thanks.

Most of the times, the clock needles will just pull straight off. Just be sure to put them all on in the twelve oclock position when you re-install them so they are synchronized with each other. Also since they bend so easy, make sure they do not rub each other or the faceplate before putting everything back together.

When you pull the speedo needle,  Use a small needle nose pliers to hold the shaft right below the pointer. Then use a small screwdriver to pry the pointer up with the other side up against the pliers.   I broke my speedo by just trying to pull it straight off.
