« on: February 23, 2007 - 05:56:08 PM »
Well, my cam is WAY to hot for my build in my 440...Anyone suggest any cams slightly hotter than stock but very mild? :clueless:

A lot of people recommend the Mopar .484 cam.....but probably wouldnt go over the .509 cam,,,,for a mild street cam!

I like roller cams myself...more lift with less duration for streetability.....I think Chyrco likes the engle K54 cam

GRIND                   LIFT        LIFT         LIFT          DURATION
NUMBER                 1.6           1.5         at Cam         @ .050”

I want it to be a good street cam.  I'm running an Edelbrock high-rise intake, a 4-spd tranny, and a 3.21 8 3/4 rear end.  Something that will give me halfway decent fuel economy as far as a 440 goes.  Basically, not a drag cam, something for a cruiser that can get up and go...i really don't know how else to explain what i'm looking for

well if your running a high rise edelbrock it is probably the Torker 2 or performer rpm which I believe is rated at 2500-6500 rpm....so you will want a cam in that power range to match...

why do you think your .510 lift cam is too much...??

Mopar .484 cam specs                  CL        lift                      rpm range

Mopar .509 cam specs
P5007698    292/292  248/248  64  114  .509/.509  P5249848  2600-6000  Street/Improved driveability

I wish I would have kept the box...I asked someone who builds motors for racing and he said the cam was fairly hot for a street car.  AG...i really wish i kept the box I could give you exact specs on it, I know it was a comp cams extreme 2 or something like that. :dunno:

There is a cam on comps website with .510 lift...it is the same as the mopar .509 cam but has a centerline of 108* as opposed to mopar 114*

I run a solid roller comp cam .627 lift with 1.7 roller rockers duration is 254 @ .50 - 110 CL

no problems street driving for me....  :burnout:

I would get some more suggestions.. I personally think the comp .510 is fine...dont like the 108* centerline though!

or you can just get the .484 cam buy 1.6 rockers and get a little more lift of .516 and have a 114* CL  ...

not really , the Mopar cams have more duration / lift than similar engle grinds , you can have a .508 lift Engle with less duration & better idle quality

I plan on staying with a hydraulic flat tappet cam, but I don't want to have to babysit the throttle just to keep it running.
