« on: February 23, 2007 - 06:22:02 PM »
Hi everyone,
I haven't been around for awhile but someone sent me this email. I was wondering if any members had heard of this ?
If it works, useful info to share.

I think the first and the last one could work. But how is a radio frequency gonna go into a ground line and then tranfered to your cell.

Any cell phone that has signal & power can call 911.  I keep an old one in my car for emergencies.

Emergency calls will work through any cellphone, it doesnt matter if its connected or not. If it can get a signal, mobile phone providers are legally obliged to connect emergency calls.

The *#06# one only works on some phones, mostly siemens handsets (possibly sony ericsson too, im not sure). But your service provider doesnt need that number, your IMEI number, because the phone transmits it whenever it turns on.So If you simply give them your cell phone number, they can lock it anyway.

Oh and that number you get by dialling *#06# is also printed on the side of the box as the IMEI (only on GSM phones).

Also, If you do press *#06# and it works for you, keep pressing [info] and it takes you to a hardware test menu.

thanks for all the responses people.
I hoped that the remote starter one would work but haven't tried it. Sounds like it would be a stretch.
I wouldn't own a cell phone except my wife makes me, kinda like an electronic teather in case I stray off the beaten path. :lol2:

Technically speaking, you can unlock your car with your cell phone if you throw it through the window.
