1970 Challenger R/T Road Test
« on: February 24, 2007 - 06:33:40 PM »
I picked up this magazine the other day (cover date is July 1970) because of the Challenger road test and thought about the fun Chryco Psycho would have had being the test driver behind the wheel on this one - Plum Crazy, black top and interior, 440-6 4sp 4.10 gears  :jumping:  -  :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: The article mentions "contrasting striping" but from the only two shots of the exterior all i can see for certain is the hood blackout. Be nice if it still is around somewhere :money: :cooldancing:
First time i'd seen Rodder and Super/Stock - Martyn L. Schorr is listed as Editorial Director - and all the pages save for the centerfold were the thick newspaper type stock like the older issues of Cars and in b&w. Too bad, that must have been a beauty in person
The glossy centerfold insert was of the Chi-Town Hustler Hemi-Charger and looks to have been taken at Lions Drag Strip. On the front of the centerfold is the Sox and Martin Hemi-Cuda with some of it's specs on the preceding b&w page. There was an article on the drag racing success, total domination really, of Mopar from '62 through '65 and i had to throw a picture in of a wild looking 426 wedge :o

Enjoy

Yea NZ, The drag racing bunch then & probalby now prefer the auto for consistency, few could snatch a gear as cleanly in a straight shift.
