FY1 paint chip colour.
« on: February 24, 2007 - 08:02:48 PM »
Im restoring a 70 R/T challenger here in Australia,im having a lot of trouble trying to get the factory correct colour for FY1 top banana,I got onto PPG and they were no help as they dont/wont deal in old US car colours,Anton (spray painter) one of our site members tried to help find the rite colour and he also ran into a brick wall. The car is getting ready to paint and I want to do it the rite colour first time round,so what Im requesting is if some one in the US who is painting or has painted FY1 could you paint a piece of tin in the correct colour and send it to me via air mail,PPG said if I had a sample they would have no trouble in reproducing the exact tint,Id appreciate your help.
Mike.

If Dupont's product line is available to your shop, their #2469 is a good match.  That's what we're using.  good luck

Thanks for the info FY1Cuda,got onto Dupont distributers over here and they said that colour number is not obtainable in this country (its good I have long legs to get) over these obsticals) so I shall have to rely on cudabuyers generosity to help me out of this predicament, cudabuyer I have sent you an email. FY1 is a very rare colour over here and as far as I know I might have the only one unless some are hidden in garages and never see the light of day.

I am sure I could run down to the paint shop this week and get the formula from the shopowner for you.  Then just have someone over there mix it up for you.

Thanks FY1cuda,Iv been given the paint code of 2469 for FY1,but the stupid buggers in Dupont over here said it is worthless in this country as they dont/wont use US colour codes,I bet they wouldnt be able to make a colour out of any numbers in the fone book, mob of tools they are.
