Modern Seat belts

I want to put some modern shoulder harness style seat belts in my challenger, anyone done this before?  What does it all involve?

NZ440RT has a nice setup in his car...hopefully he'll chime in and give you his thoughts. If you do a search on the board you may find the thread about this, it was a few months ago.   :2thumbs:

I like the seatbelts out of '74 E or B body.

Weird, I just completed this task today!

My car, being a 73 had separate lap and shoulder belts.  I replaced them with retractable 3 point belts.  It was a VERY simple bolt in procedure.    I used the Wesco Performance Conversion Van belts because of the drop sash (figure it'll make the belt rest across my shoulder and not cut into my neck...we shall see).

Hey stacked, seems as though you have a link or someone to follow. They are a great improvement to these cars. For me, definitely a top 10 "mod" I made to Lucy & the 'Cuda. Nothing is worse than being restricted. You can't reach or even think about reaching the glove-box with the factory belts, now I can release the E-Brake, change the station and reach behind the seats without even concentrating or "rocking" to and fro. lol

Here are a few photos of mine. They don't fold away but I feel that's a small price to pay for the convenience and user friendliness. Also, mine (and I guess others) are aligned to the seat back so it looks like part of the seat, see the second photo to fully understand what I mean.

My belts aren't the same as Challenger73318's. They are New Zealand & Australian standard belts made in Australia. The companies name is, AutoLiv and their website is: www.autolivaftermarket.com

This thread will have all you need, US suppliers and all the info.

Anyone using shoulder belts in the back seat??

The wife says the Cuda has to have shoulder belts in the back for the kids (7 and 3 weeks) to ride in it. I agree, much safer that way.

I haven't seen any, I'd say no one has made this modification before either.
You'd have to make a custom cut in the read door panel upper area to make it work.

That is a good idea, but wouldn't that be a little high even for a child-seat?  :dunno:
Having those in a G-Machine would be cool, imagine some racing harnesses coming through the package tray! :bananasmi

Ok, you guys get the first test run...  Did these on my wife's new iMac.  Anyway, here are the pics.  For some reason the black interior didn't want to light up very well.  You can see the retractor mounts flush to the floor, with the belt anchor behind it.  There is a 1/2 twist in the belt, probably because of the way a van would mount them.  As it turns out, the belts used the stock bolt mounts with no hassles.  The center hump anchor ends were bolted into the stock holes and reinforcements.  There were a set of reinforcing plates in the mounting kit, but I didn't think it would be necessary over the plates that were already present.

Give it a whirl, hope it looks as good on a pc as it does on this screen.

BTW, B-Bodies had provisions for shoulder belts through the package tray.  Perhaps something to pattern against.

*Update*  Not surprising, IE doesn't like that html.  Click on the space above the image name, and the image should pop up.

Thanks. You mentioned they were van models. Which # set did you get?
Did your headliner get crinkled from the new attachment?

noticed an option code "C14" for the '70 Challenger: Rear shoulder belts..anyone seen this option before?
