WIW 1970 Challenger (added new pictures)

All right folks, what is it worth, if you where spending your hard earned money.   

1970 Challenger - was a six cylinder, 3sp optioned car. 
Now being setup for a big block and automatic.  Car comes with two consoles, R/T rear apron, and dual exhaust tips, ralley gauges, extra steering column and wheel.  Big block k-frame, with Hemi torsion bars and disk brakes.  1973 Chrysler 440 block, bored 060 over, steel crank, heads rebuilt and intake manifold and carb, 727 trans rebuilt.
As you can see the car is pretty straight with no panel rust, small amount of rust in the battery box, and surface rust under the car.  Rear end is supposed to be an 8-3/4 posi, but that has not been confirmed yet or what gear ratio.  The rest of the pictures speak for themselves.

I guess I'll bite and go first. What kind of shape is the interior in? The body looks solid. Frame OK? Right now I'd say at least 10K, maybe 12K on the high side.

Seats and seat belts are there but need to be recovered/dyed, carpeting was removed but needed replacement anyways, as does the dash pad. 
The frame is solid, there is only light surface rust on the under carriage.

I always say as cheap as you can get it,but that is one solid car.Has the owner put a price out on it?

I agree with the Clown as little as possible , Try to make him set a price and even if it seems low don't seem to eager

He is asking $12,000 and doen't want to budge.  I need to know if thats fair a fair price or is it high for what he's got.

12K was the high side of my initial quote/guestimate. The tail lights look good. If the grill and headlight bezels do too, then I wouldn't think 12K is out of line.

I have been searching everywhere for a parts car(70 challenger)and from what I have seen,thats a damn good deal.

Does look purty solid.  Would make an awesome T/A clone.

I don't think you'll find solid '70 Challys (best year IMHO) for less than that.

As long as the rails are not soft and floor boards are as is as it looks, no bondo in those quarters, I say $12k is fair.

This is 2007 folks; these e-bodies are still doing better than the stock market (seen what it did recently???).

Seems fair enough.  12K, no real body work, no real rot/rust, and your can build it how ever you want it w/o any "loss of originality" guilt.  No matter what your plans, it doesn't get much better than that for a clone.  That car is rust free after 37 years.

I vote T/A or 440 Six Pack.  Here is a nutty idea.  I always liked that silver color for Dodges in 70, how cool would that silver look on a T/A with all those black accents?  Even if it wasn't available.

Believe it or not, about 8 miles down the road from me out in the country is an original owner T/A Challenger survivor.   Paint code 999, car is wearing original silver paint.   It is the only 999 paint code T/A Challenger Barry Washington from the T/A registry had heard of.

I like your idea for a silver T/A, that would be Bad A$$.  There are to many 440 Six Pack Clones already.  I was think a T/A or Rest Mod, upgraded susp and brakes, newer stlye interior, fuel injection.

   I don't have any but am not stroking you on the story.   There is a big old beautiful Catholic Church out in the country between us that has a little car show.    About 6 years ago? I drove by and saw the tail end of it, but didn't have time to check it out.   At this point I had never heard of it, and thought silver, that is cool, but not original.    My buddy is a plumber (and Mopar guy).   He did a service call at the guys place and checked out the car.    He lives about 2 miles from the church.  After these 2 incidents I heard other rumors of the car.   999, I am guessing it is 69 a4 silver.   I need to stop at his place sometime this summer with one of the cars and check it out!

Just looking at the under car pic's, seems to have an unsual amount of rust on everything. Check into those hard to get places to see if there is signs of been in water.
The rear end has been painted over more than dirt!! It does look prety good though and at the lower price $10k would be right as the prices aren't going down.
