Another 1971 'Cuda clone.

What's the going price for the following car? I'm in the market and I'm wondering if the guy's price is realistic or a bit high. Just thought I'd get some opinions. The other car I asked about had some more issues than I expected and is probably going to be sold anyway.

-1971 /6 Barracuda cloned to 440-4bbl/727 slapstick console status.
-Rallye dash.
-Bulge hood.
-No stripes, louvers, wings or spoilers of any kind.
-No A/C.
-Power steering.
-Power drum brakes.
-Engine/trans came out of an 84 Chrysler and both have been rebuilt and have some minor upgrades.
-The restoration, metal work & paint are fresh and are practically flawless. Very good work. The underside looks very clean too.
-Drivers floor, one quarter panel & one hood hinge area were replaced properly.
-Interior seems to be all there and looks very clean. The only non-original looking item are some rear speakers that sit on the rear package tray. Hard to tell if the area is cut up to fit the speakrs or not. I would assume not.

Here are a few.

The underside is also very clean with what looks to be a brand new gas tank. The 8.75 rear looks like it was painted silver or argent. Everything looks pretty damn clean, though the engine and some of the under-hood parts look like they could use some cleaning.

I saw that car on cudaworld.com and I think he is asking way too much money for it (52k). the car does not have gilled fenders, only 6 packs were available on 71 440 cars, the woodgrain on the rallye gauges does not look right, the car is missing the rear tail panel chrome, the steering wheel is a 72 and newer e body wheel, just for starters. It looks like it is a really nice car, but the attention to detail to make it a "quality" clone aren't there in my opinion. If those things don't matter to you then thats fine, but I would not pay more than 35-40k for that car. If those things I mentioned above do matter than it will cost you a bunch to buy those parts and then you have to repaint the fenders and get the paint to match. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I also figure that, since the engine is from an 80s vehicle, the car is probably worth a bit less than if it had, say, a 69 dated block.

How much of a difference that would make, I'm not sure.

Yes 'Cudas were only available with gilled fenders. Gran-Coupes did not have gilled fenders.

I would have to agree that the price for the car is closer to $30,000 to $35,000 range tops. You have many things to correct to make it look like a real 71 CUDA. This will not only take time but will require money to be spent on the parts and labor unless you can do it yourself.

I paid $21,000 for mine.  '71 318 Barracuda, now with a 440.  That one looks a lot nicer than mine, but a paint job shouldn't make it $30,000 more.  I think it would be worth $35-40,000 tops.

30,000 for a slant 6 barracuda? Please. The prices on these are becoming ridiculous.  My car is a 71 318 auto challenger converted to a 440 4 speed. I don't want it to get to the point where I'm afraid to drive it or leave it unattended at the store.  I think it's a gamble to pay so much for these cars. 

            Absolutely one of the most sensible comments made on any of the  automotive forums I have read to date.

He sent me some images of the restoration a while ago. We negotiated a bit and he said the lowest he would really take is 46K. I offered to meet him halfway between what he wanted (46k) and what I wanted (40k) at 43k but he said he couldn't do it. What do you guys think of the resto images?
