It looks like I'm buying another one! (PICTURES)
« on: February 28, 2007 - 07:36:45 PM »
First let me say that I am sorry for not having pictures, but I will post pictures Friday after I pick up the car. I am buying a 1970 Dodge Challenger A66 package car 340 4 speed plum crazy with white interior. The car was on ebay and ebay yanked the auction. The car has no motor or transmission and was wrecked in the front. BUt the car has minimal rust and I have most of the structural parts to repair it. I also have a 1970 340 and 4 speed laying around that I will be installing. The car does not ahve a lot of options but it is factory plum crazy 340 4 speed. This will be my first non clone car and I plan to do a full restoration on the car after I finish the 73 Duster and the 70 cuda clone.

Once again I'm sorry for no pictures and I know

Ebay did not like some of the wording in the auction so they yanked it. I went and inspected the car yesterday, so that I know exactly what I am getting.

First with the bad. The passenger front frame rail is shoved towards the drivers side enough that the K member buckled. Both inner fenders have to be replaced, the passenger side is gone. The radiator support is gone and the hood is magled. The seats are missing, and the glass is all broken out. The good news is all of the window trim is there, there is very little rust in the car. Only a couple of patches in the floors and a trunk floor are in need of replacing. The quarters are fine and the window channels appear to be good. All of the numbers are present and match except for the radiator support.

The car's vin is JH23H0E 1970 340 Challenger, paint code FC7 (PLUM CRAZY), white interior and bumble bee stripe, A66 340 performance package, D21 4 speed, AM radio, bucket seats, dual exhaust with chrome tips. The car does not have a lot of options but I don't mind, I like it that way. I have a ton of parts for this project from my collecting over the years. This will be my first restoration that requires structural work, which I am looking forward to. I plan on restoring the car back to original for the most part, I might install power disk brakes, but I might also leave the stock manual drum brakes, we'll see, I will repaint it the orignal plum crazy with white stripe and white interior and install a new buldge hood (as it came with the A66 package). Hopefully when I finish the car I will be able to keep it. That would be a nice change.

Like the others say, post pics when you can!

Sounds like a superb project, and an even better color combination. You have yourself a 'junior' T/A! Gotta love white on plum!  :2thumbs:

Glad to hear you found another car.  Was it the one in Red Bluff?

Yeah it is the one in Red Bluff. The front end is worse than the picture looked, but the rest of the car is better than the pictures look and it has a lot more parts on it than the guy made it sound.

I remember seeing that car on eBay...The only reason I checked it out was because he said it was a 4 speed car that originally came with a 340.  I didn't see the front frame rail damage you mentioned, but I remember seeing the front end missing the rad. support and right side inner fender.  Hopefully you can fix it, which doesn't appear to be a problem for you. :2thumbs:
